Margit, Morgott, Mohg, Malenia, Placidusax, Bayle, Messmer, Hoarah Loux, Fire Giant, Rellana and Radahn and more all require positioning for consistent no hit kills. Lots of bosses get bigger openings with positioning+strafing too

I think it originates from Dungeons and dragons, but not too sure.
