Can anyone at @theage explain why it doesn't have books editor? Does the current management not understand the rich literary history of both the Age and Melbourne, the city it once served with distinction?
i will always stand with Grace Tame. Always. People hate to see a woman who won’t shut up when they want them to. But Grace has seen and endured too much. She isn’t afraid and it inspires me.
@DrJulieAH@theage The Age is certainly not a compelling member of the Melbourne community. Few reporters appear committed to the vibrancy of the city (unless you count the odd sports code).
@DrJulieAH@theage The Age is dying anyway. I'm guessing we'll end up with a SMH website with a Melbourne news section. There's very little to differentiate it from the Herald now. Most sections are identical, and there's almost zero local commentary. And people like Le Grand fit in.
@DrJulieAH@theage If One Nation helps oust Labor then Nine will be all over it. (There must be enough revenge seekers at Nine who remember the Age's expose of ex-owner Kerry Packer. That's why they've enforced a hard-right turn in its culture.)
@DrJulieAH@theage One Nation is probably too on the nose, even for Nine. They will want whatever the owners and Sydney board want. We know that they all have deep ties into the Liberal party, except for one person.
@DrJulieAH@theage And the Age and AFR trying to destabilise Allan today. We can be certain that it's a coordinated campaign, given that "this masthead" share offices.
Absolutely fascinating that @theage hasn't reviewed the important Melbourne concert by Palestinian singer Saint Levant. We see you, and it ain't pretty!
Want to know what racism is? And I don’t mean mere discrimination but systemic, institutionalised racism? Then compare and contrast ABC’s handling of Charlie Pickering with Antoinette Latouf —Adelaide Festival and Randa Abel-Fattah, and Lebanese/Aussie artist Khaled Sabsabi.
