BREAKING: Abdul El-Sayed's campaign is responding to @FoxNews after unearthed social media posts from El Sayed's sister in 2012 appear to show her saying her family has been involved with and supportive of the Muslim Brotherhood. I asked the campaign if they deny the posts are in fact from his sister, and what comment they have given that El-Sayed just told Meet the Press over the weekend that nobody in his family has any ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. This is what they told me.

“Abdul is a dad and a doctor. He has spent his entire career working to keep Michiganders healthy and safe. Independent fact checkers have repeatedly debunked Mike’s lies, but their campaign continues to use bad faith attacks on Abdul's faith and family. Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, speaking at a Senate hearing on M*slim Brotherhood networks, pointed to El-Sayed’s primary victory as evidence of the groups’ long-term influence.

Rogers, the GOP nominee, has argued the pattern of associations and donations is relevant to a Senate race in a state with large Arab and M*slim populations.

El-Sayed’s campaign has called the focus Islamophobic and has not responded to requests for comment on the sister’s posts or the Brotherhood website article.

The M*slim Brotherhood, founded in Egypt in 1928, has been designated a t*rrorist organization by Egypt, several Arab states, and parts of the U.S. government for its role in supporting Hamas and other t*rrorist groups.
