I actually worked with LaRussell at an event we had at Georgetown University back in 2022.
Out of respect, I try to stray away from speaking on people that I have had the opportunity to personally work with but even then, I was not picking up what he was trying to put down.
guy said “smear the queer” on live tv and all of the quotes and replies are saying he said nothing wrong. being a queer football fan is so isolating. that fucking sucks to hear on live tv and i appreciate this sincere apology, thank u bijan!
Look, I was drafted in the 2nd round on a rookie deal of about 4 million before tax … And 6 years removed from the NFL, I can say I can live the lifestyle I desire, while also saving money and putting my kids in the position to win later in life. These guys that touch over 10 million and blow through it sounds like pure user error on their end because AINT NO DAMN WAY!!!! If I touched 100 million, sorry ESPN, B10, & USC… YAL WOULD NEVER SEE MY FACE AGAIN !!!! 😭😂 I’m just sayin man ! At some point, self control and accountability gotta kick in.
When you first retire it’s easier to call games. You still know all the active players, coordinators and schemes. You don’t have to work, you can live off of the work from your playing career. You can “predict” what’s coming based off knowledge of a D.C and the offensive adjustments according to that knowledge.
As years go by, you lose familiarity with players in the league and new coordinators arise, then you have to put in the work. If you don’t put in the work (watching countless hours of film, talking to current players, tracking the coaching landscape) you revert to stating the obvious or making jokes all broadcast. Network execs don’t make a change because ratings aren’t impacted by bad broadcasters. But how could they be? We were never watching for them.
A game analyst is like a waiter at a restaurant. No one goes to the restaurant for the waiter, but the waiter can enhance the dining experience. Fans don’t watch games (different than sports shows) for analysts, but analysts have far too often ruined games.
