I suspect that the Tories are doomed to endlessly "doing a Brexit": knowing what or who they don't want but never being able to identify a specific practicable alternative with broad support.

In the last South Glos Council election the Greens got just 347 votes. But this was still enough to prevent the Liberal Democrats gaining the seat from the Tories. A massive own goal for green policy in South Glos.

So, once again ~200,000 highly unrepresentative people - many of whom have extreme right-wing views - will choose our next Prime Minister. Stable European-style consensus-driven coalition government looks wonderful right now.
