@DrKristieLeong You have to push yourself just like you are preparing for competition and have a good chance of doing well.
Also, you can cheat once in a while and eat a extra sized serving of beets and, for me at least, the beets provide a big boost.
The biggest deal is the consistent work.
@DrKristieLeong I am now 81 and two days ago, I rode my cyclocross bike on a course I have been riding for 12 years. I did the fastest time I can remember. "Age is an attitude". I have been injury prone for decades so I have learned to work around them. You have to stay at it almost every day.
@DrKristieLeong Yep! That is my experience if I do enough hours of intense stuff. Most people obsessed with bike riding or tennis continually eat and still lose weight. It's a good life.
@DrKristieLeong I'm procrastinating doing my wood splitting task for the day. Then, I see this post and you nudge me to go do my physical exploits. Wood splitting, by the way, is a decent workout.
Did you know? U.S. foods contain at least 950 substances banned in Europe. Chemicals with potential health risks are quietly present in hundreds of items found in American grocery stores.
Israel massacred people at a mosque in Gaza during prayer.
No headlines. No condemnations. No consequences.
Complete normalization of war crimes. https://t.co/l3eO7mPwk0
@DrKristieLeong Yeah. I like that approach. Way back, I was in a bike shop in Roanoke and complaining about my inability to conquer a certain hill. My friend working there told me, "Some places are tough. You have to build-up." That continues to be true at all levels.
Many Working Class Americans are drowning in medical expenses and faced with increased costs of medications all while having limited access to essential treatments. These free health clinics Michael Jordan is opening couldn’t have come at a better time

Glutamine is one of my top supplements to take for reducing susceptibility to illness during cold and flu season.
Immune cells prefer glutamine as a fuel source. During infections, they consume this amino acid at a rate similar to or greater than glucose.
It might be especially important for endurance athletes–randomized controlled trials have shown that glutamine supplementation reduces upper respiratory tract infections after a marathon by up to 32%.
I've noticed that I'm sick less often and when I am sick, my symptoms are much less severe since starting a regimen of ~5 grams of glutamine, which I take on training days (most days of the week).
@etanthomas36 This not only an exceptional charitable act, but it is a critical strategic move to give people the ability to launch themselves. Poor health stops so much progress and individual development. Poor health is widespread. This is a great move!
@DrKristieLeong I have one thought. If you are tired or have some source of discouragement, take inventory of the pain or whatever and then do something from the mix in the checklist that is not in your inventory of pain or discouragement. After that, you'll feel like you conquered.
As the world wakes up to the harrowing images of children slain by Israeli bombs across the entire Gaza Strip AGAIN, we cannot bear witness to global leaders JUST. DOING. NOTHING. This is an acceleration of the genocide that Israel is committing against the Palestinian people as a whole. We already failed to prevent it and our Governments have an even greater obligation to stop it now.
Interesting:
New study suggests long-term NSAID use (e.g., ibuprofen) may reduce dementia risk by up to 20%. More research needed, but could be a game-changer for brain health.
Chronic neuroinflammatory responses, increases the risk of dementia.
Prolonged use of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), despite its similarity to NSAIDs, showed no protective effect against dementia, highlighting the unique properties of different anti-inflammatory drugs.

@DrKristieLeong Joint issues like bone spurs and various torn ligaments and labrum issues force me to ride my bikes and do adaptive workouts and hope nobody is watching.
@DrKristieLeong I sure can't jump the way I did a long time ago. I don't fully understand, but I can do endurance and up hill bike climbs fairly well. If I work hard, I can improve each year. Guessing that the short muscle fibers that give you spring fade with age and the long fibers remain.
@AngelJonesPhD I agree with other that suggest a one-on-one meeting. If the student has such a strong need to drink a beer at that time, they may not be able to control their consumption. They will deny anything like that, but at least start the thought process.
