@EastMidRailway I’d love to know why my delay repay claim has been rejected when over an hour late into Manchester “ticket not valid for journey claimed for”. What? I had seat reservations and everything. Guard was happy with ticket and said I’d get delay repay
@JamesTitcombe Her isn’t going to help. Doesn’t mean that there still can’t be excellent team working and communication. Appropriate escalation when needed. Women are mammals and do need that psychological safe environment for hormones to work effectively
@JamesTitcombe I think the keyword is “unnecessary “. She’s not wrong. Hopefully we have moved away from things like the ward round going into every room on Labour ward to say hello to the “low risk” woman who is cracking on with no issue. Because having 5 strange men troop in to talk to
@Chonkubine @MidwivesRCM@thetimes And what bad training? I can’t read the article in that link but previous reports etc have talked about poor staff training in the hospitals, not the universities. Universities are not responsible for nhs staff training
@Chonkubine @MidwivesRCM@thetimes But blaming the wrong sector won’t help. Universities can’t be held responsible for what’s happening in hospitals. Nor are they responsible for the underfunding of services. Govt needs holding accountable for that
@ShaunLintern You do realise the govt will welcome the opportunity to throw anyone else under the bus rather than accept govt failings for under funding and under staffing. You’ve been used as a puppet
@ShaunLintern I found the article very negative and one sided, have you spoken to any lecturers. Of course students need to be taught about physiological birth as well as at risk women and referring. In 3 years you can cover both
@ShaunLintern Did you talk to Nottingham university about what’s actually covered in that session? Or are you making massive assumptions. Lazy journalism
@ShaunLintern@catherineroyuk@MartynPitman@nmcnews Your story misses the whole point, of course the govt and even the nmc will welcome a scapegoat to blame for the state of maternity services. Don’t be a puppet and fall for it.
And of course the govt will want to blame the state of maternity services on universities rather than admit that chronic underfunding and understaffing is a major issue which raises risks
There is nothing wrong with promoting physiological birth for those who want it as long as safety is maintained and referrals made to obstetrics when needed. The nmc and rcm both seem happy to chuck the profession under a bus 4
had the journalist actually talked to any educators or just read online course documents which let’s not forget the NMC will have validated all these programmes. #rcm#midwifery 3
Really disappointed to see @MidwivesRCM throwing midwifery educators and student midwives under the bus today in the Sunday Times article. Totally agree that students need to be prepared for a range of different births, which will include physiological vaginal births. 1
I agree that we shouldn’t use “normal birth” but we should be supporting women who want a vaginal birth. obviously referring when necessary when a risk is found. How do the RCM think students will feel reading that they’re poorly trained, etc. It was a very unbalanced article.
