OpenAI o1 claims to use CoT to improve the performance. But this prompt engineering technique has been around for a while, and I am curious about what OpenAI has done differently. I plan to test it in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, the weekly rate limits is 30 messages.
@tsarnick@ylecun Even within an organisation, if want to succeed in the product or system you built, you also need to have this mindset. Think hard on how to make your system open to everyone, make more people use it, make them think you are “altruistic “

Communicate well, present your ideas in a clear and understandable way, understand your audience deeply are the required skills for a senior software developer.
I have a mental model of AWS as almost never breaking anything (my S3 bucket has worked for 15+ years now), but I may need to update that model.
AWS quietly deprecated both AWS CodeCommit (Git hosting) and AWS QLDB (a blockchain database thing) in the past few weeks
We’re always nervous or even panic when standing on the stage to deliver a speech. One helpful method is to focus on the value you want to give to the audience, not on whether your speech is perfect or not.
After working as a full stack developer, I feel the frontend development is more difficult than the backend because the frontend may run in different browsers, have different network connections, hosted in different devices with different screen size.
Everyone: “Book your flight on a Tuesday at 3 pm, you’ll get the cheapest tickets!”
As an airline veteran, this is a B.S. myth.
Timing matters, but not in the way you think.

Reddit is going IPO as $RDDT, the first social media IPO in some time. As someone who spent some substantial time running a social media company, my takes on the Reddit IPO:
I'm a beginner, again.
Spent 12 years designing and running an agency in Nepal.
Moved to US and did various minimum wage jobs for 1 year.
Joined a design company as a junior designer again.
After 5 years of learning and adjusting with new environment, now decided to start side hustling and slowly becoming self employed.
Even after 19 years of career, I feel like a complete beginner on this online solopreneur journey.
It's like reliving my 20s again.
It's like falling in love again.
It's like daydreaming like a crazy again. 😊
And I'm loving it even more.
I need to remember this feeling.
Always be a beginner at something.
