Young people,
Please check your email. 🙂
Especially when you’ve been applying for fellowships and other opportunities.
Not checking - and responding promptly - could lead to missing out on something that would have been just right for you.
Most organisations won't chase you. They’re not going to call or send a second email; it’s a level of hand-holding that most just can’t commit to, as people tend to prefer working with those who are proactive and can clearly signal seriousness/commitment. They’ll simply move on to the next candidate (and there are usually many other people interested in these things).
Diligence shows in the small things, and not responding when you should could be interpreted as being unreliable.
You can sell anything to Nigerians, just add a little bit of classism and tell them it’s not for poor people, then watch them buy to prove they are not “poor”.
'"We don't need feminism, women already have rights."
Where exactly?
Is it in Northern Nigeria, where underage girls are still married off to men twice their age? Or in Southern Nigeria, where in some communities women still can't inherit or own property?
