Infibulation, the worst form of female genital mutilation (FGM)
Many people are unaware of the practice known as infibulation. While this lack of awareness is a good sign (at least it indicates that the practice is not widespread), I still feel compelled to shed light on this harmful practice perpetrated against girls.
First, they will cut the girl's clitoris and labia, they will then sew her vulva (the part many people call vagina, where intercourse happens), leaving only a small space for menstruation. As in, the vagina is almost completely sealed, leaving just a tiny hole.
Once they're done, they would tie her legs together to allow the wounds heal. The healing usually takes 20 to 40 days, depending on the girl's body. This means she won't be able to move throughout this time as her legs would be tied up for the entire period of healing.
The stitches are designed to be opened by the husband on the wedding night, subjecting the woman to further trauma. This practice leads to severe health complications, including urinary tract infections, fistulas, and infertility. During childbirth, women who have undergone infibulation often require repeated incisions due to the narrowed vaginal opening.
Currently, infibulation is still practiced in some parts of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Sudan. The fact that it has also been practiced in North America, Australia, and New Zealand in the past highlights the global nature of this issue.
This morning, I am making this post to raise awareness about infibulation and FGM in total and to condemn it. The pains and the dangers surrounding it is just too much to bear. My name is Àròjinlẹ̀ and I stand against female genital mutilation.

Your mouth odour may be because you have tonsil stones. Even some people who don’t have mouth odour are going around with tonsil stones, and can develop mouth odour at some point.
I’ll explain:
First of all, what are tonsils?
The tonsils are round soft lumps located at the back of throat, on each side and they help to prevent infections in the body. They also have some tiny spaces in them where stones can form.
How do tonsil stones form?
One common cause of tonsil stones is poor oral hygiene.
When dirty particles accumulate at the back of the mouth and around throat, they can get stuck in the small spaces in the tonsils together with bacteria, and other germs.
They become hard and turn to small stones when they absorb calcium (this is the same way dental calculus/tartar forms around the teeth). The stones remain stuck in the tonsils and increase in number as more dirt accumulates. The stones can be white, cream or yellow in colour.
Being dehydrated can also make your mouth dry, and can contribute to formation of tonsil stones.
When the stones are present, they can cause bad breath, ear pain, sore throat, bad taste in the mouth, difficult swallowing, throat infections, and you can have a constant feeling that something is stuck in your throat.
Sometimes, they’re just there and will not give any symptoms. You can, however, develop a symptom at any time. If you have noticed such symptoms though, you should visit a hospital.
What can help you prevent tonsil stones?
—Brushing twice daily, and cleaning the back of your tongue either with your toothbrush or tongue scraper.
—Drinking water and staying hydrated
—Rinsing your mouth properly after eating food
—Quitting smoking and reducing alcohol intake.
Also, there are available treatments for tonsil stones. You know where to go, right?
Kindly share.🙏🏾
