Chemical Biology of regulatory mechanisms group @IFIBYNE
We use small compounds to understand the regulation of kinases and proteins of biomedical interest
Happy to share that our latest paper is the new cover of @scisignal! Years of hard work and fruitful interdisciplinary collaborations helped us elucidate how PDK1 exists in distinct conformations that determine its substrate specificity. #ScienceSignaling
This week’s issue of #ScienceSignaling has arrived!
Research in rodents suggests that the lungs help protect other organs from #SARSCoV2 infections, scientists explore how the conformation of a kinase shapes its substrate specificity, and more. https://t.co/iZFsr6ukIe
Loved visiting and catching up with my PhD family @biondi_lab at their new great place at @ifibyne. Really miss working every day with this amazing team ✨
It also lays the groundwork for the development of allosteric activators or inhibitors of PRKs, with potential applications in cancer, viral infections, nutrient sensing, and insulin sensitization! We invite you to read our paper using the following link https://t.co/pgLmk5EYqq
We are excited to share our new paper published in @jbiolchem , 'Molecular insights into the regulatory landscape of PKC-related kinase-2 (PRK2/PKN2) using targeted small compounds'!
New in JBC press: "Researchers' study highlights the potential for developing allosteric drugs to modulate PRK2 kinase conformations and catalytic activity."

In this paper, we investigate how small compounds can allosterically modulate the formation of complexes between the kinases PDK1 and PRK2. Our work contributes to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms within the PI3-K signaling and how small molecules can regulate it!
Time to say goodbye to @lissy_gross, who has been part of our group since 2017. We will miss you and wish you great success in your career path and new scientific projects! 🙌🚀
Feeling a mix of emotions as I bid farewell to my academic family of these last 6+ years, @biondi_lab and @sebaklinke. Grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such brilliant minds and incredible people. And honored for having been part of @IBioBA_MPSP and @CONICETDialoga.

After 7 great years in our lab, @marusacer continues her academic formation in the @MRC_LMS in London, as a #PostDoc in the Meiosis Research Group of Enrique Martinez-Pérez. We will miss you a lot and wish you all the best in your new projects and science adventures! 🔬👏
We have a new #PhD in the group! @lissy_gross defended her thesis on chemical biology and structural studies of PDK1 conformational regulation, and became a Doctor in Biochemistry from
@UBAonline. Her thesis work was directed by Dr. Biondi and @sebaklinke . Congratulations 🎉
This is how we celebrate a succesful PhD defense in Argentina 🇦🇷⚽️🏆😂. Congratulations to my dearest friend Dr. @lissy_gross after so many years of sharing our undergrad biochemistry studies and being neighbors at IBioBA. Wishing you all the best in your next scientific steps!
¡Felicitaciones, Maru! 👏👏👏
We have a new #PhD in the group! 🥳@marusacer
defended last Thursday her thesis on the modulation of the conformational landscape of PDK1 and became a Doctor in #Biochemistry from the University of Buenos Aires. Congratulations Mariana!!

📢 Calling all senescence researchers! Join us for the 1st online meeting of the Iberoamerican Senescence Network. Introduce your research, connect with peers, and prepare for the @ICSA_senescence meeting in Chile. 🗓️Nov 30th. Interested? Email us to 📧[email protected]
Thrilled to have witnessed part of the process towards the creation of the first platform for single-particle #CryoEM in Argentina. As users of this network, in @biondi_lab we are really excited to see how #StructuralBiology in LatinAmerica is growing stronger and more connected!
1/5 Our latest #ScienceSignaling paper is now available to download for free! It can be found in our institutional webpage from @IBioBA_MPSP under the section "Publications": https://t.co/tMkTup0KLb
A short summary of it in this thread👇🧵
4/5 Given the relevance of PDK1 to activate #kinases that promote cell-growth and survival, these results provide new strategies to manipulate PDK1 in future #oncology treatments.
