@AstroMikeMerri I think we’re agreeing. The Laffer Curve is a theoretical exercise based on an individual as a ‘perfectly rational economic utility maximiser.’ It doesn’t account for humans doing things as a ‘purely good thing’.
@DaBozzCanSockMe@ShaneDollards@ApoStructura Nope. It literally hasn’t. Ever. It’s a theoretical exercise drawn on the back of a napkin relating to a flat rate of income tax that has not been supported by the data.
The right’s reaction to climate change becoming unavoidably apparent is to convince themselves they’ve always wanted & needed air con, but they couldn’t have it because of woke
@DanielPriestley@jmontforttx In Denmark, to ensure fairness, Danish law enforces a total personal income tax ceiling. The highest marginal rate will not exceed 57.8% (lower than the UKs £100k 60% rate), and Denmark’s centre left economy is so successful it’s cutting income tax and corporation tax.
The big story is not that Europeans need AC so we can be placated and live in cool boxes, not noticing that the weather is getting warmer. The real story is that the weather is getting warmer and we need to stop making it worse by burning stuff.
99% of climatologists: "We're on the brink of an anthropogenic disaster!"
1% of climatologists (who also happen to either part-own or are employed by fossil-fuel giants): "It's always changed. This is fine!"
Observer: The scientists can't even agree amongst themselves 🤷♂️🤪
@DrRebeccaTidy Well that’s false.
It’s not a “22% tax on interest”
It’s a 22% tax on cash sitting in a supposed stocks and shares ISA that has t been invested in stocks and shares.
