@VTID22UTV Thanks for sharing your insights. I also saw some of your other replies regarding the Rwanda sponsorship. Hopefully people approach the discussion with a broader perspective. I’ve heard many positive things as well from associates who have worked and engaged in Rwanda.
The next decade should not be about asking whether India can qualify for the World Cup. It should be about doing the hard things that make qualification inevitable: better coaching, better leagues, better facilities, better governance, better match exposure and a relentless focus on Indian player development.
I always questioned the many high-profile players that move to the Turkish league. After visiting Istanbul for the first time, I’m now questioning why anyone wouldn’t want to move here.
Well sure but there’s a “market” for everything, including K-12 ed, police protection, clean water. We just choose to treat certain things as a public good with a basic level of access for all.
We could choose to see some access to youth sports as a public good, not a luxury.
This US team definitely created a spark for soccer in America.
But, Belgium showed aspiring football nations like USA there are levels to this game.
They were technically and tactically so far ahead. Doku, Lukaku coming off the bench and De Bruyne not needed speaks volumes
Visited football programs in Western Nepal, a region that was long considered an afterthought in football talent and participation.
Training centres such as Birbal and Lumbini Football Academy are doing great work in developing football in the area.
There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the state of football in Nepal. The challenges are real, but so is the progress happening beyond the headlines.
OPINION: Think Nepali football is dead? Think again
Many observers concluded that Nepali football had hit rock bottom. But it is very much alive and kicking.

Very impressed by Japan’s performances throughout the #fifaworldcup.
The combination of exceptional homegrown technical quality and the battle-hardened experience gained from having more than 100 players competing in Europe has created a team capable of competing with anyone.
Quick reminder: Nepal's 300+ futsal halls remain open. Kids are still playing in the streets, fans are glued to the World Cup, school tournaments continue, youngsters are hooked on FC Mobile, and creators keep producing football content. Nepali football is alive and kicking.
Essentially non-football related commercial success matters more than sporting success.
So if you want to build a squad, build a hotel or concert venue first!?
“Why can #THFC spend so much money despite finishing 17th, it’s so unfair on Newcastle and Villa!”
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last night…⤵️
It really shouldn’t be that hard to understand. 💰
Visiting the football community in Biratnagar after a long time. Great to see a lot of school football/futsal activities while there.
The passion for football is clearly strong and the foundations for long-term football development are in place.
At Khwopa Kings training this morning. Of the dozen or so trainees, 3 boys had played in the ANFA U16 League, a girl had been selected for ANFA Academy, and another was a national futsal team player.
Goes to show what even a simple grassroots football program can achieve.
Three observations after the first round #fifaworldcup:
1. 48 teams has worked so far. Very few teams look out of place.
2. With 32 teams advancing, sides are playing more attacking football.
3. Pre-tournament skepticism has faded. Great matches, venues, and full crowds.
I have been critical of FIFA and the way they distributed tickets for this World Cup. But the first week of this tournament has been a huge success, and they deserve credit for that. Stadiums are full, crowds have been great, and viewership is through the roof. The World Cup will be back in the U.S. before we know it.
