It's hard to get used to having these incredible Reed Parrotbills (Paradoxornis heudei 震旦鸦雀 Zhèn dàn yā què) on my local patch. Stupendous birds and spreading rapidly since the first Beijing record in 2016.

Eleven years ago this stunning male Alashan (Przewalski's) Redstart (Phoenicurus alaschanicus 贺兰山红尾鸲 Hè lán shān hóng wěi qú) was found up at Lingshan, Beijing's highest mountain. I haven't seen one in Beijing since!

This one must be mostly Black-throated but with some red on the undertail and undertail coverts, plus a hint of red in the upper breast, it likely has some Red-throated genes.

A presumed Red-throated x Black-throated Thrush intergrade coming to the same leaky pipe in the Botanical Gardens as the presumed Black-throated x Naumann's intergrade.

The rare and endemic Chinese Mountain Cat (Felis bieti) mother and kittens from Qinghai Province in August 2018. Sadly, the mother and one kitten were killed by dogs shortly after this video was taken.
