@purpleorchid89@cooksferryqueen@ElizMMB@Jemstar76@makesmilk you might want to consider a homebirth if you haven’t up until now. Unfortunately the home birthing services have also been impacted to some degree but if they wouldn’t be able to come to your house you could still go to hospital. And home is where the hubby is - your turf!
@chilledmamacath @pinterandmartin @sheena_byrom@Prof_AmyBrown@millihill Ha! I love that you probably meant to write „post“ but as you most certainly use the word „positive“ so often that’s what autocorrect changed it into 🤩
@millihill I listened to you reading it and loved every bit of it. You eloquently put in words what I felt all along. Thank you! Now I’ll also need to buy the hard copy as I know I’ll want to look up many references you mentioned and will cite it for sure in my first antenatal class 👍🏻😁
Over-medicalisation of childbirth and more from Prof Cecily Begley. I've been so frustrated on twitter this week! So nice to hear her so gently make these valid, feminist points. #givebirthlikeafeminist

Our findings showed that reading the books persuaded mothers to use a sleep and feeding routine (45%), sleep separately to their baby (23%), delay how quickly they responded to their baby’s cry (24%) and cuddle their baby less (15%).

Open access until 15th July - why we need breastfeeding to be tackled at a public health level rather than an individual responsibility

Do you know about the magical first hours? After baby is born they go through 9 instinctive stages if left undisturbed in #SkinToSkin contact with their mother. This promotes maternal attachment; supports brain development; inc breastfeeding rates & duration; calms/regulates baby
@return2laughter That’s wonderful - I am happy for you. It was the same with my third baby and first homebirth. If only more people knew about the many perks of #homebirth 😍
@return2laughter @ruby_tuesday101 @Prof_AmyBrown Yes you are really doing all you can to provide for your little one and keep that wonderful nursing up. You are doing a great job 😃
@return2laughter @ruby_tuesday101 @Prof_AmyBrown Ah yes of course - I was replying to the other commenter whose milk was in the freezer for six months. I really have no solution for your wonderful milk so I just 😭 in solidarity
A major issue with sleep training is that it often does not work - risking parents feeling even more demoralised and even depressed afterwards. In our research they only helped about 15% of the time - when they didn't mothers could feel 'like a failure'

The birth environment is essential to supporting motherbaby autonomy. In a waterbirth, a newborn is able to use his prenatal abilities https://t.co/lGW9pGh8E2
“These are often precisely the conditions that caused a previously avoidable section to become necessary and also the conditions that some mothers now realise need to be avoided if the chances of achieving a vaginal birth are to be maximised.”
“VBAC mothers are usually faced with the prospect of a highly medicalised labour, conducted on terms and to a time scale laid down for them by the hospital with no consultation or consideration of their needs as individuals.”
