when caleb asked "you remembered?", it pains me 🥺

caleb's trauma responses here hurt me so much. his emotional detachment from human relationships and family made him so distant from everyone at first, including mc.

when the deepspace rift tore calebmc away from the lab and separated them, he shut himself off from the world.

he was afraid that approaching mc with the weight of their shared past in the lab and the fact that he had already been her brother, would overwhelm her. so he remained observant from a distance, letting her claim a place in his space and enter his life again slowly.

yet despite everything, mc deliberately chose him. when he finally asked her to call him 哥哥, she willingly embraced him in that role, and they were finally reunited.

in that moment, i think he truly accepted his fate, even if mc forgets everything about their past, he will always hold those memories for her.

and this has always been true. in yin yang sundering and clearday return, he has always been the one who remembers for her. always the one slowly giving her space to relearn their familial bond.
