Breaking: Pope Leo XIV tells states that Catholic Colleges and Universities must teach "sound doctrine" and that it is not enough to teach intellectual truths but they must teach the "Truth that is Christ."
Pope Leo XIV has appointed @EWTN's head of news, Maria Montserrat Alvarado, as prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, replacing Paolo Ruffini who has served as prefect since 2018. Alvarado will become the first laywoman to head a dicastery of the Roman Curia. She will take up her new position on November 1.
Middle Ages: God centered. Man needs reform through grace. Result: Hope.
Modernity: Man centered. Man is capable of achieving anything. God is irrelevant. Result: Pride
Postmodernity: No center. Man is broken with no reference to what can heal. Result: despair.
Voltaire died with a priest in the room
He had spent 50 years as the Enlightenment's most effective critic of Christianity
When he was dying in 1778 a priest came to his bedside
He made a partial confession and signed a statement affirming his belief in God
The man who built his reputation on rejecting the Church could not fully leave it at the end
Nobody who quotes Voltaire today knows this
A EUCHARISTIC HOST BEGAN BLEEDING AND IT HAS NEVER STOPPED FOR 730 YEARS
In 1263, a German priest doubting the Real Presence was celebrating Mass in Bolsena, Italy, when the host began dripping blood onto the corporal. The relic was rushed to Pope Urban IV in Orvieto.
He commissioned Saint Thomas Aquinas to write Corpus Christi, the very feast we still celebrate today.
The blood stained corporal is preserved in Orvieto Cathedral. Scientists have confirmed the stains are human blood.
Jesus is not a symbol. He is present. Have you visited Him today?

Pope Leo XIV on the soon-to-be Blessed Fulton J. Sheen:
“Archbishop Sheen was a light of faith, hope, and love that shone through the radio and television media for decades. I myself am a witness of his evangelization when I was growing up. His broadcasts, touched millions with the hope of the Gospel and his initiatives and efforts resulted in enormous spiritual and material aid to the churches in areas of first evangelization."
The Gospel is much more than a book: it is Christ Himself, the Good News for humanity that is confused, deceived, and disappointed by many evils. He satisfies our thirst for justice and truth, and He instills in us the courage to persevere in doing good and to place ourselves personally at the service of our neighbor.
“Catholicism is like a lion; it doesn't need to be defended, just understood. Most Protestant objections are based on misconceptions, not the real teachings of the Church.”
~ Peter Kreeft, former Calvinist, now Catholic theologian, philosopher, apologist & university professor
In 2014, a pregnant mother from Italy suffered a burst amniotic sac which threatened both her own life and that of her unborn baby. Doctors strongly advised an abortion.
Instead, the mother prayed to Pope Paul VI for intercession.
The baby girl was successfully born at eight months with no complications, a medically unexplainable recovery that was officially validated by Vatican medical boards
Today is the feast day of St Pope Paul VI, ora pro nobis!
In 1968, the whole world told him he was wrong.
He held the line anyway.
Humanae Vitae prophesied infidelity, moral decline, diminished respect for women, and government abuse of power as consequences of contraception.
Those prophecies have all come true.
A pope who chose truth over applause. That's holiness.
St. Paul VI, pray for us.
Evangelization does not rely on the efficiency of structures or on social relevance, nor even on the consensus that may be received at a given moment. Trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit remains the essential aspect, following the paths He indicates in order to lead many people to Christ, to His word that saves, and to His love that renews life.

Pope Leo XIV to participants in the Plenary Session of the Dicastery for Evanglization:
“It is not by watering down the contents and softening the demands that one can make Christianity attractive, but by bearing witness with humility and courage to the Way, the Truth, and the Life that has converted and sanctified so many people."
