I spoke to Junaid over the phone this morning. He is safe.
Please do not spread unverified or false information. Verify facts before sharing them.
He has received legal assistance, and I am in touch with him.
Dear @JPNadda@DrJitendraSingh ji,
We are observing a complete breach of the agreement regarding no police action against the protestors. Hundreds of students have been arrested in Bihar and Bengal, and hundreds are being surveilled/harrassed in Delhi and other states. Multiple reports are emerging in Delhi around detention of volunteers supporting protestors with logistics.
We demand that all the FIRs against the protestors be immediately withdrawn, students be released and no future FIRs be filed (in line with our agreement) by Delhi police / Central investigative agencies / Police in BJP-allied states, FAILING WHICH WE WILL BE FORCED TO SIT ON PROTEST AGAIN.
We also demand that the written agreement around legal cases be shared with us by tomorrow, the aligned timelines with the Government of India.
🚨STATEMENT
We are deeply concerned by multiple reports reaching us of students and other protestors being targeted, detained, or arrested by various state agencies, particularly in Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar.
The Cockroach Janta Party had called off its nationwide protest only after the Government of India assured us that no punitive action would be taken against any protestor, either now or in the future, in any BJP-ruled or NDA-ruled states. The reports emerging from these states are therefore a matter of grave concern.
First, we wish to assure every protestor that our legal team is already coordinating with brilliant lawyers in the concerned states to secure the release of those detained and to extend all possible legal assistance. This has been happening from Day 1.
Second, we call upon the Government of India, particularly @JPNadda ji and @DrJitendraSingh ji, to immediately honour the assurance given to us by ensuring the release of those detained and by directing that no coercive or retaliatory action is taken against any protestor anywhere in the country. The FIRs registered ought to be withdrawn too.
The Government of India is also reminded of its commitment to furnish us the written guarantee in this regard by tomorrow, Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
Our decision to suspend the nationwide protest was taken in good faith and solely on the basis of the government’s assurance that it would stand by its word. Any departure from that assurance would not merely amount to a breach of trust with the Cockroach Janta Party but would also be a breach of public trust with lakhs of young Indians who chose dialogue over protests.
Such breach of trust will be completely unacceptable to the youth.
The Government of India is reminded that it derives credibility not from just making a promise, but from the promises they honour.
To the young protestors we say, hold on. We are with you. The CJP continues to closely monitor the situation and expects the Government of India and all BJP/NDA state governments to act with utmost urgency, responsibility, and good faith that the present circumstances demand. We demand that all detainees/arrestees be released immediately, and in any case by tomorrow, and that all FIRs be withdrawn immediately, failing which we shall take further necessary steps.
@Cockroachisback
All news and rumours regarding Mohammad Junaid are false.
He is safe, is receiving all necessary legal assistance and was also present at our volunteers get-together for a while.
We urge everyone to stop spreading misinformation and hate. Whatever action took place at his residence was addressed promptly in the first instance.
We have always treated Junaid with immense respect and we will continue to stand by him (& other volunteers).

#WATCH | Mohali, Punjab: AAP leader Manish Sisodia says, "A lot of rumours are being spread by the Congress and BJP. Their paid trolls are posting on social media that there was a paper leak in Punjab. I want to tell the Congress and BJP to stop spreading lies. It is because of your lies that the public has reduced you to such a state that no one cares about one, while the other's education minister is forced to resign... There was no paper leak in Punjab. In a university in Punjab, some students brought a Bluetooth-enabled smart pen into a classroom with the intention of cheating. The university administration immediately seized it and took police action against them... They should be ashamed that they are calling a failed attempt by one child to cheat a paper leak. They have no understanding of education at all."
