This time, there is no "Bangladesh Pavilion" at the Kolkata Book Fair. But has there ever been a "West Bengal Pavilion" at Bangladesh’s book fair? No, there hasn’t. It doesn’t exist because it is not allowed. No books published in West Bengal are available at Bangladesh’s book fair either. This whole situation has now turned into something like, "If you won’t come, I won’t go either, got it, Notobor?"

I believe in generosity. Even though Bangladesh has never allowed West Bengal into its book fair, West Bengal has welcomed Bangladesh with open arms, even treating it with great hospitality. West Bengal’s selfless stance is commendable. But despite receiving such generosity, Bangladesh has not learned to be generous in return.

Some people are happy to accept invitations to others' homes year after year but never invite anyone to their own. Such friends are better avoided. Let them first learn generosity, let them first understand equality—only then can we talk about holding hands together.
