BREAKING: Major law enforcement operation underway at MacArthur Park.
@USAttyEssayli says this is āPhase IIIā of efforts to make the park safer. He says authorities will keep returning for random sweeps until the open drug use ends.
Want a real-time snapshot of how far left the Democratic Party has lurched? Look at San Francisco.
Nancy Pelosi held that seat for nearly 40 yearsāthe defining power center of establishment Democratic politics. Today, even she canāt steer what comes next. She endorsed San Francisco Supervisor, Connie Chan, but Chan finished a distant second to Scott Weiner, one of the most radical progressive voices in California. Weiner and Chan will face off in November, with political odds makers making Weiner the prohibitive favorite.
The party that is rising now is to the left of Pelosi, and not by a little.
This isnāt evolution. Itās a takeover.
Wiener has pushed to soften aspects of sex offender registration, championed unrestricted pediatric gender interventions, backed policies that cut parents out of their childrenās gender decision, and supported legal frameworks that can strip custody from parents who dissent. He supports the right of men who identify as trans to enter female-only spaces.
And then thereās Israel.
Wienerāa Jewish lawmakerāhas echoed repeatedly the most extreme rhetoric of the activist left, accusing Israel of genocide in a clear bid to align with a party base where anti-Israel sentiment is no longer fringeāit has become a litmus test.
Weiner might be too far left even by Pelosiās standards, but he still was backed by tech titans, including donations from OpenAIās Sam Altman and crypto billionaire Chris Larsen.
Let that sink in: the political heir to Pelosiās San Francisco is shaped by a movement that has moved well past herāand is unapologetic about it.
The Democratic Party didnāt just shift left.
It left its old center behindāand itās not looking back.
"Housing First" is the magical belief that if you give addicts free housing and let them keep doing drugs, they will just decide to stop doing drugs.
Of course the opposite has happened: social housing in California has become taxpayer-funded crack dens. This reform is good.
When asked if the Maine Senate race is forcing Democratic voters to choose between their political tribe and their morality, @ChrisMurphyCT doubles down on his defense of Graham Platner: "People want authenticity... They want people to admit mistakes."
Asked if Marco Rubio still has bipartisan credibility in the Senate, @timkaine tells @kasie that he acknowledges "a cabinet Secretary does what the president tells him to do" and that "it's the president's decisions that are so awful with respect to Iran, starting war with no clear rationale, no clear plan."
The West has created an utterly evil state religion where an accusation of āracismā is the gravest offense that can be committed, even worse than rape or murder!
So if police show up at a crime scene and a British boy is bleeding out and an immigrant says the British boy is racist the cops will cuff the dying British boy.
