@OrielCelt @karldeeter@businessposthq Another of our pop economists -surely in a well developed economy - growth should be focused on improved infrastructure as a societal benefit, and improving productivity- not growth for the sake of it.
@OrielCelt @PresidentIRL It is all of that and more. There are a lot of 'pop' economists used who are linked to businesses, KPMG etc - whose views and biases are unchallenged -but they are not neutral!
@rtenews@morningireland what is interesting about this case -where was the advice from the council officials? did he listen ? and why did other councilors not call it out at the time?
@OrielCelt @PresidentIRL The same old people who gave us the recession and who perpetuate the trickle down myth - would have thought their credibility as economic commentators would be at zero on that basis
@rtenews You couldn't make this up. Dublin City Council who have made life very difficult for traders on the street now appealing for more traders for the Street, and claiming the credit for 'reinvigorating' the site
@DanMulhall They have a long history in this regard- witness their views on Bill Clinton as a 'IRA' sympathiser for approving visa for Gerry Adams in 1994
@wallacemick Is there anybody on the 'so-called left' who has the guts to tell Russia that they should not be interfering and war making in Ukraine and in Syria?
@OrielCelt @wallacemick Good on you for calling out this charlatan-his sympathies always seem to lie with authoritarian autocrats - perhaps questions on trade union rights in these Rupert Murdoch orgs and in China would be what I would expect from a self declared 'left winger'
@OrielCelt @IrlagainstFash@gardainfo Spot on - threatening and intimidating behaviour- wonder how these people would feel if this was happening to one of their own in another country for example the 50k undocs in USA?
@OrielCelt @IrlagainstFash Spot on - yet the same individuals probably have friends/family members who are Irish economic migrants in Australia, UK and USA, so that's ok for them to go there, but no one is allowed to come in here. Sounds like hypocrisy to me
