Today, the Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed two more measles-associated deaths after local coroners reported these individuals died from complications associated with measles. That's four total measles-associated deaths in our Commonwealth and the first Pennsylvania has seen in 35 years. These are tragedies, and four families are grieving.
Pennsylvania is experiencing the worst measles outbreak in the country. To date, we have 693 recorded cases of measles in 38 of our 67 counties. This disease was declared eliminated in the United States in 2000 — yet decades later, we are seeing it surge due to lower vaccination rates.
This serious situation continues to be made worse by RFK Jr. playing games with public health and safety. It's long past time for @SecKennedy to stop stoking vaccine skepticism and misinformation and compromising the serious mission of the nation’s public health agencies. It is also deeply concerning to learn that the Secretary personally intervened in an otherwise administrative process to direct the CDC to not report these Pennsylvania deaths, presumably because it doesn’t fit his phony narrative.
Measles is preventable. I continue to urge all Pennsylvanians to speak with your trusted health care provider and get the best possible information to protect yourself and your family against this deadly disease.
I was encouraged this week to see the leaders of the frontier labs agree on the need for them to slow down the pace of AI development. Given the stakes, it’s a good and necessary first step.
But I’m even more encouraged by the growing recognition that how this powerful new technology develops should be at the center of our public debate.
I’ve been watching the progress on AI for over a decade now, and one thing that’s clear to me is that the potential impact of this technology is not overhyped. It’s also moving at lightning speed – and even faster than those who are engineering it can keep up with.
I’m not an AI accelerationist who believes it will lead to some techno-utopia, and I’m not a doomer who thinks it will inevitably lead to humanity’s destruction.
But whether this technology results in amazing breakthroughs in medicine, energy and education or unleashes huge economic disruptions, greater inequality, and potential catastrophe will depend on the choices that we make right now – choices that should be made not just by the companies involved, but by all of us.
Super Sky Point to Dave Parker. Anyone who’s followed me for a while knows how I feel about the man. His throws in the 1979 All-Star Game burned an impression into my 7-year-old brain that’s endured for nearly a half-century now. He was the first player I ever saw wear an earring, a pillbox hat-wearing, swashbuckling urban badass who wielded heavy lumber like a toothpick and made big league pitchers weak in the knees. And that arm? It was a nuclear missile launcher.
I’m sad he won’t be there physically to be enshrined in Cooperstown in less than a month. But I’m happy he passed secure at last in the knowledge he will forever reside among baseball’s immortals. Have your lighter handy, St. Peter, because smoking one with the Cobra will be a privilege. #RIP
This was apex Dave Parker. He was 28 years old. He had just won the NL MVP in the fall of 1978. This throw was in the summer of 1979. In the fall of 1979 he was a World Series Champ. The best player in baseball for those 12 months and the epitome of 1970s cool. Superman stuff. If he played in the northeast he would not have had to wait so long for his Hall of Fame induction and thus not miss it.

Taylor Swift wrote a song about my son, Ronan, after he died of cancer. She put me on as a co-writer, and donated the proceeds directly to pediatric cancer -no strings, no hidden motives, just pure compassion and integrity.
In stark contrast, the Trump family engaged in significant fundraising efforts for children with cancer through the Eric Trump Foundation. However, reports later revealed that funds were used to pay Trump-owned properties for hosting fundraising events, raising concerns about conflicts of interest and self-dealing. What could have been a mission solely dedicated to supporting children in need became tainted by financial practices that appeared to benefit the Trump Organization, casting a shadow over the charitable intentions initially claimed.
This election is a no-brainer. It’s a choice between compassion and corruption, between someone like Kamala Harris, who has spent her career fighting for justice, and Trump, who has exploited the vulnerable at every turn. Kamala has consistently shown a commitment to supporting communities and ensuring people’s rights are protected, while Trump and his family have even stooped to taking funds meant for children with cancer.
If integrity, empathy, and basic decency matter, then this choice couldn’t be clearer. Supporting Kamala and her values means standing up for the kind of future where compassion isn’t just talk—it’s action. We owe it to ourselves and to the next generation to reject self-interest and stand on the right side of history.
To all my Republican friends. Donald Trump is talking in public about executing a political opponent, a former Member of Congress and daughter of the man you all supported for Vice President.
This will be your legacy. To all my former clients I helped elect, your support for Trump will be what you are remembered for. You think all those bills you voted for will matter. No one will remember. It's like segregation. All the segregationist Southern Senators had long careers. They are only remembered as segregationists. it's what your grandkids and their children will read about you in their history books. It will be who you are.
As it should be.
Since apparently hate towards Puerto Rico is being spewed on stage at MSG, just going to post the words of a great Puerto Rican.
What a difference between this great man and ugly people full of hatred.
There’s no such thing as a border czar.
But there was a border bill.
Republicans worked with Democrats on border security, then Trump killed it because he has no intention of solving the problem.
“And the train conductor says
Take a break, Driver 8
Driver 8, take a break
We can reach our destination
But we're still a ways away, but it's still a ways away
But we're still a ways away, but it's still a ways away”
