NEW: Expert thrift shopper purchases a $3.07 Lakers warm-up jacket that is now expected to sell at auction for up to $250,000.
19-year-old Quinn Brown of Oregon says he found an LA Lakers warm-up jacket that was worn by Wilt Chamberlain.
Brown says he was thrifting when someone, after deciding they didn't want the jacket, threw it in front of him.
"He just threw it in front of me, and I immediately grabbed it," Brown said.
The man says he posted a photo of the jacket on Instagram, which caught the attention of Sotheby’s auction house.
"They said your jacket has been matched to the 1972 NBA Finals. I knew the NBA Finals jersey sold for $4.9 million. That’s the jersey he wore under my jacket," Brown said.
The jacket has since been authenticated. Sotheby’s says it is worth between $150,000 and $250,000.
