What an interview. I have been filming with @vice along with my amazing colleagues about the @bklyndebate now for over 6 months. Super excited for you all to see this documentary we have been working on. It is an honor to do this work.

We are so excited to welcome Brooklyn Community Arts & Media High School and DREAM Charter High School to the BDL as partner schools. Looking forward to a season of hard work and big trophies! ✨🏆

All of our BDL school partner competitors won at least one of their rounds. Shoutout to Social Media Interns Rachel and Eshaal, who made semis and are now top 30 and top 13 in Congress and Extemporaneous Speaking respectively!
This weekend was an amazing success and culmination of everyone’s hard work this year. Thank you @vice for following our story! See you all next year 🥳
“@kdicolandrea said that I was helping inspire Muslims and South Asian girls on my own team, which felt totally special - I love this category so much.”
We are so proud of Eshaal and can’t wait to catch you up on the rest of nationals soon!
For this Humans of BDL post, we interviewed our very own social media intern, Eshaal! Eshaal is a junior attending Stuyvesant High School and captain of the extemp team.
Eshaal also commented on the increasing diversity in speech and debate, “The increasing diversity in competitors, especially in national circuits, in recent years, has been amazing. Especially with DiCo’s support, it was really nice to help change that.”
