(1/n) Excited to share that my PhD work @tamal_das Lab is now published in @NatureCellBio!
How do epithelial cells around a gap sense edge-curvature? We find that the ER acts as a central mechanotransducer, sensing the curvature & guiding cell migration.

Congrats Margherita to submitting her first paper 'A hybrid computational model of cancer spheroid growth with ribose-induced collagen stiffening', thanks Susan and Tom for collaborating on the spheroid experiments, @jmetzcar for collaboration on @PhysiCell , @bkprdp for
EngD studentship: Having an eng, applied maths, or physics background? Interested in applying numerical models for sustainable engineering solutions? Looking for a PhD to tackle real-world challenges in a supportive environment? Check below

Thus, the modelling framework can study the role of chemical and mechanical stimuli in regulating endothelial permeability. We @sys_mech_bio are always looking to collaborate with experimentalists. Thanks to @BBSRC for the funding and @uob_bear for the computing support! (5/5)
If you are looking for a fresh read to start 2024, our @FabianSpill paper is now online😃. Thanks to the editor and the reviewers for the constructive feedback and @biophysj for a smooth publishing process. https://t.co/yxPCfT1V2p
A 🧵with a "poetic" summary at the end. (1/5)
We find that the permeability of a cylindrical monolayer is higher than that of a planar monolayer. Also, we saw that permeability increases with
the curvature of the cylindrical monolayer. (4/5)
Applications open (due: Jan 10, 2024) for a 7-week undergraduate summer internship in mathematical oncology featuring classes, interdisciplinary research projects & hands-on tutorials. https://t.co/6I5k4ijek4

Extremely proud of Simran, who has made a tremendous contribution to our understanding of how cellular organelles might influence collective cell migration. Watch out for her story, in collaboration with @FabianSpill and @bkprdp, to be published as a preprint soon.
Chandrayaan-3 Mission:
'India🇮🇳,
I reached my destination
and you too!'
: Chandrayaan-3
Chandrayaan-3 has successfully
soft-landed on the moon 🌖!.
Congratulations, India🇮🇳!

Next week, I will be hosting @in2scienceUK placement at @MathsBirmingham. We plan to visit labs, use Blackboard to solve equations and have conversations about science. Any suggestions on hosting a great placement are very much appreciated! #biomathematics#STEM#in2sci23
We are looking for a postdoc with a background in maths, data science or related who loves to solve real-world problems in a highly collaborative environment. Please RT https://t.co/PPLGcUv9DR
Excited to announce our @FabianSpill new mathematical model, using the principles of contact mechanics, to study the permeability of endothelium. Mechano-chemical stimuli can change the behavior of VE-cadherin based adherens junctions. Have a read!
https://t.co/NBvjjOzkDk
Our model can simulate the zip-like behavior of cell-cell junctions. The shear stress between cells determines whether the particle passes through a bi-cellular junction or a tri-cellular junction. Role of the geometry of endothelial monolayer is also studied.
It's wonderful to be back to my "PhD home" @UofGlasgow, to present our work at @SofTMech soft tissue workshop. Many things have changed in 4 years..new buildings in campus, great views of the tower and sky has turned blue 😃
This reminded me of my days at @AgnikulCosmos solving non-linear differential equations for rocket dynamics. Margins are so tight that even an undesired "noise" on the input vector is sufficient to push the solution out of bounds. Good luck to @SpaceX for the next launches!
My Autotrack software captures the moment that Starship lost control. Excitement was very much guaranteed. Great first attempt by the SpaceX team!
Tune in to hear our live reaction! @NASASpaceflight
