🚨🇵🇹 Luis Nani blasts the Portuguese players for their recent playstyle:
Luis Nani 🗣️: “Sometimes I watch Portugal now and I honestly have to ask myself, what happened? Why are these players suddenly playing with so much personality, so much movement, so much courage? Because when Cristiano was still in that dressing room, I didn’t see this same Portugal.
Now I see players making runs behind the defence, I see Bruno and Vitinha receiving the ball and immediately looking forward. They are playing line-breaking passes, taking risks, moving the ball quickly, trying to hurt the opponent. This is exactly what you want when you have attacking players around you.
But where was this when Cristiano was there? We had the greatest finisher in football history standing in front of them, and somehow the team would become slower, more predictable and more passive. You had a player who could turn half a chance into a goal, and instead of giving him more opportunities, sometimes it looked like they were afraid to play forward.
And now suddenly everybody wants to attack. Suddenly everybody wants to make runs. Suddenly Bruno is playing those passes between the lines, Vitinha is breaking defensive structures, and the full-backs are getting forward. You look at Cancelo too. He hadn’t scored since September last year, and now he has scored two goals in two games. Two! So I have to ask: where was this version of Cancelo when Cristiano was still around?
People can say I’m being emotional because Cristiano is my friend and my former teammate, but I’m talking about what I saw. I was in that dressing room. I know what it feels like to play alongside him. And I also know what it looks like when people are no longer giving everything for someone.
For me, it became obvious that some players didn’t want Cristiano anymore. You could feel it in the way certain things happened, in the way the team played and in the attitude around him. And I’m sorry, but I will never understand that. You can disagree with your captain. You can have different personalities. You can even have arguments. But how can you hate Cristiano Ronaldo?
This is the greatest player Portugal has ever produced. He carried that shirt for almost two decades. He gave everything to the national team, broke records, won trophies and made Portugal believe we could compete with anybody in the world. He didn't just represent Portugal; he helped put Portuguese football on another level globally.
And now that he is not there, some players suddenly look liberated. That is what disappoints me. If you had this freedom, this courage and this attacking mentality all along, then why didn’t you show it when Cristiano was there? Why did you wait until the greatest goalscorer in our history was no longer standing in the box?
I’m not saying Portugal cannot become better without Cristiano. Of course they can. Every generation changes. But don’t rewrite history. Don’t pretend Cristiano was the problem simply because the team now looks different.
If anything, his presence should have made these players want to give even more. You had the best finisher in football history ahead of you. Your job was simple: create chances, play forward and give him the ball. Instead, too often we saw hesitation.
So when I watch Portugal now, I’m happy because I want my country to win. But I also feel frustrated, because I keep thinking about what could have been. Imagine this Portugal playing with this same courage, these same runs, these same forward passes, while Cristiano was still leading the line.
Maybe we would have seen something very special.
And that is the part people need to understand. Cristiano didn’t need Portugal to protect him. Portugal needed to use him properly. When you have a player like that, you don’t make the game smaller for him. You make the game bigger.
For me, the biggest regret is that some of these players only seem to have discovered that after he left.”
🚨🎙️ Rio Ferdinand on Portugal players waiting for Bruno Fernandes to lead them out of the tunnel:
🗣️ “I noticed something during the Portugal vs Norway match.
When the Portuguese players were about to come out of the tunnel, they all waited for their captain, Bruno Fernandes, to lead them out.
I was like, ‘Wait a minute… these players know how to wait for their captain to lead them out of the tunnel?’
Because we never really saw things like this when Cristiano Ronaldo was their captain.
And honestly, I can now understand why some people believe those players didn’t actually want Ronaldo around.” 👀
Diogo Jota era um dos pouquíssimos jogadores de Portugal que sempre jogou pro Cristiano Ronaldo.
O respeito que esses dois tinham um pelo outro era lindo.

🚨🎙️Reporter: Rasmus, everyone is talking about the moment you pushed Jorge Jesus after the final whistle. What actually happened?
🗣️Højlund: I was going to shake his hand. Then I remembered what he did to Cristiano.
🎙️Reporter: You mean Ronaldo?
🗣️Højlund: Of course I mean Ronaldo. That man is my idol. I grew up watching him, learning from him, celebrating like him. And you expect me to smile and shake hands with someone who disrespected him?
🎙️Reporter: But he is the Portugal coach. Isn’t that just football?
🗣️Højlund: No. Football is competition. What happened with Cristiano was disrespect. You don’t treat a player like him that way and then expect everyone to pretend nothing happened.
🎙️Reporter: So you don’t regret pushing him?
🗣️Højlund: Regret? I regret that I even tried to greet him in the first place. I should have just walked past him.
🎙️Reporter: Are you saying you did it because of Cristiano?
🗣️Højlund: 100 percent. I don’t care what people say tomorrow. Cristiano Ronaldo gave inspiration to an entire generation. If someone disrespects my idol, I’m not going to stand there smiling for a handshake just because cameras are watching.
🎙️Reporter: Would you do it again?
🗣️Højlund: I’d show respect to anyone who deserves it. But respect has to go both ways.
🎙️Reporter: One final message for Jorge Jesus?
🗣️Højlund: You can coach Portugal. You can make your decisions. But don’t expect everyone to forget how you treated Cristiano Ronaldo.
🚨 Sergio Ramos on Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal:
🗣️“People say Cristiano Ronaldo is not bigger than Portugal. I’m sorry, fam, but Ronaldo is bigger than that country.
He gave Portugal a footballing identity the world could recognize.
You cannot erase everything he has done because of one difficult moment.
If Portugal turns its back on him now, it should remember who carried that shirt for so many years.
Legends deserve respect, especially when their chapter is coming to an end.
Cristiano may step away from Portugal, but his legacy with that country will never walk away.”
🚨 José Mourinho blasts Jorge Jesus over the tension with Cristiano Ronaldo:
🗣️ José Mourinho: “I find it insulting to Cristiano Ronaldo that you would call him up for the national team, take him to these games and then treat him like he is just another player you can leave on the bench.
“If you already knew you weren’t going to use him, why call him up?
“Cristiano is not Endrick. He is not Vinícius. He is not Yamal. He is Cristiano Ronaldo. You know exactly what he represents.
“Jorge knew Cristiano was 41 when he selected him. He knew he couldn’t do what 25-year-old Ronaldo could do anymore. Nobody is asking him to play every minute or carry the team for 90 minutes.
“But if you call him because you understand his importance, then you have to manage that importance properly. You don’t suddenly reduce him to a name on the bench just because you want to show everyone that the coach is in charge.
“If Jorge has forgotten what Cristiano has done for Portugal, the world hasn’t forgotten.
“This man has carried Portugal through generations. He has scored the goals, broken the records, won the trophies and kept Portugal competing at the highest level for years.
“And Jorge should also remember what Ronaldo has meant to his own career.
“Cristiano has given him exposure. He has given him international relevance. He has been part of the reason people around the world were watching that team.
“So when you have benefited from someone’s influence, you don’t turn around and treat that person as if he is now an inconvenience.
“Cristiano is 41. Fine. That’s reality.
“His legs are not the same. His minutes have to be managed. There will be games where he shouldn’t start.
“I have no problem with that.
“But there is a massive difference between managing a 41-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo and disrespecting Cristiano Ronaldo because he is 41.
“If you need him for 20 minutes, play him for 20. If you need him for one decisive moment, prepare him for that moment.
“But don’t make the mistake of thinking his age has erased everything he can still give you.
“And Jorge has to be careful because a coach can win an argument with a player today and still lose something much bigger tomorrow.
“The Nations League will finish. The players will return to their clubs. Jorge will move on to the next match.
“But Cristiano will remember how he was treated.
“You don’t have to worship him. You don’t have to guarantee him a starting place.
“But after everything Cristiano Ronaldo has given Portugal, **you owe him respect.
“You don’t bite the fingers that helped feed you.”
Outra completamente diferente é tentar apagar a história.
És o melhor do mundo, C4RALHO! 🇵🇹🐐
