@EveKeneinan As for the malady of our age. Reminds me of a story. People's necks were bound in a cave, forced to stare at their emotions and desires that were being manipulated by the poets for their own ends. They were unable to see the shadows and shapes of true things, and ultimately God.
@BlueFox__94@richpoorredneck@razorfist@WmafB46779@MrCasey62@timotheeology Even if you give a broad interpretation to that text, there are still several issues. One is that Peter found multiple churches, including the one in Antioch first. Second is that the church is Christ's, not Peter's. The last one, is Peter cautioned against this.
@EveKeneinan @simonssaint1488 @dominbydigdug That's was the first thing I noticed. The first line the "dialogue", was something the effect, "Once upon a time, I descended to Hell and brought friends."
@EveKeneinan I think Plato is easy to understand if you know metaphors and allegories. You have to understand that often what is said is often not what it means. Or not what the author is getting at.
@EveKeneinan Reading the bible early on and also a few of my teachers in school really emphasized metaphorical, allegorical, and symbolic ways of thinking. PARDES I think it's called. I've noticed a lot of people can only understand straight man, and often confused that too.
@EveKeneinan In order to progress, you need to know where you're headed and when you'll get there. Progress towards what end? How far is halfway there? If someone progresses in their travel to Europe and never reaches Europe, how far to Europe did they get? The answer is 0%.
@EveKeneinan Something that keeps coming to mind about academia, "You, on account of your education, never treat the same things as the same things." Who'd have known that Plato would've nailed the problem several thousand years ago.
@RMarckDesign@EveKeneinan Nobody knows what redundant means? I use that word a lot. Probably the most esoteric word I use is penultimate. I heard it in a song once and started using it ever since.
@AlexToropoc@EveKeneinan So, when they talk about fairness, it's generally that X group is underperforming, which is fairness. A huge part of the ressentiment of Communism is that Jews were overperforming, which is also fair. They did things in a way that allowed them perform better.
@AlexToropoc@EveKeneinan They don't believe in fairness. If they did, they would treat people fairly. They hold resentment against people with favorable positions because others do not have them. Inequality is absolutely fair. I'm not an NFL athlete, so for me to be given the position of one isn't fair.
@AlexToropoc@EveKeneinan It's the same with communism. They don't really want to help people, they just want to hurt the people who are doing well. Evil exists and evil is not a sin, because they aren't even aiming at something good in the first place.
@AlexToropoc@EveKeneinan No, the woke really don't believe in good. There is a difference between evil and error. That is to say that there is a difference between aiming at something good and missing the mark and aiming for something evil to happen and hitting the mark.
