@NopeyaDope@ClankoMedia MA HS players likely wouldn’t make the DL. For example the kids who play for the Jr Eagles 15U team are likely choosing DL over Sebs, Bell Hill, Thayer, etc.
@TheHashmark@ClankoMedia Across the entire org they make significant revenue through apparel sales. Thats why they want you buying through the org. I thinks it’s absurd, but this is common in club sports.
@MikeGrinnell_ USA hockey views prep / split season as a viable path to high level juniors. From a geographic standpoint you also have Mount and SPA within 1 hour of Boston. The other full season teams in MA (I.e. academies) are newer so likely hard to get accepted.
@adamwasch Sports Academies are popping up all over. It’s really sad the amount of money spent and pressure put on kids to perform at a young age when statically most won’t play beyond HS.
@AmboPadawan@ClankoMedia It’s the teams flying to out of state tournaments. Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Vegas, Minny. I live in the Boston area and we see teams from all over the county all summer
@ClankoMedia This is largely a function of parents not understanding their kid’s ability. Totally prentabke if you know where your kid slots and you’re not chasing.
@TheAZSportsGuy@MikeMcMahonCHN Unlikely. There are so few D1 programs- even if this season is lost a new staff could come in and rebuild pretty quickly between portal / CHL eligibility
@HockeyThinkTank Who is coaching the kids if it’s not parents? Who are all of these super qualified people without kids who are going to coach youth teams. My daughter has only had parent coaches - they all played high level (D1, AHL, Coast).
@AstorAaron@DavidCuse68 Very fixable. 1) pair down administrative bloat; 2) rationalize academic offering - focus on programs with strong job placement / earnings potential; 3) invest in athletics - from the late ‘80s to the early 2000’s Cuse was really the only school in the NE with big time FB and BB
