@KorbynPeebles@USAOWTC I personally dont find anything wrong with it, but everyone has their own opinions towards sensitive subjects like this. This is why I dont take personal offense if someone expresses views that might oppose my own. You have good thought provoking questions by the way.
@USAOWTC#wtcgender I thought the portion about how people react to seeing a transgendered person on stage versus a real life setting can alter emotions from acceptance to a threatening nature to be interesting. I had never really considered something like this before.
@USAOWTC#wtcvid I really liked the conclusion that "game studies needs to build up a certain kind of identity of its own." I would argue that this statement has become more relevant as the years go by with a growing gaming community.
@USAOWTC#wtckin3 The concept of the struggle between the other with the other and their co-dipendency is what makes this story so fascinating in my opinion. This theme is probably the reason I am a fan of Back to the Future and Harry Potter as well.
@Caitlyn_lauren_@USAOWTC Most of the time, I dont really get too invested in books, but this one hit me right in the feels. I think I had a lot more investment in the characters than I had anticipated.
@USAOWTC#wtckin2 I'm not quite sure why I was hoping for a happier ending considering the time Dana was being sent to. I wish that Alice would have at least escaped and then I wondered, would Alice's life really gotten much better if she had escaped?
@USAOWTC#wtckin1 So far this book is like the twilight zone meeting with twelve years a slave. Dana is pretty resilient for what she is going through. I also have to say I'm not a super big fan of the Weylin family. This definitely wouldn't be my ideal time to travel to.
@HbmStudent @USAOWTC It is fascinating that he points out how rapid change can be a problem. I think a good example of this elsewhere is with colonialism in Africa and the rapid change they tried to bring about was a huge negative to their society.
@USAOWTC#wtckeynes I like how Keynes takes the approach of looking at the historical nature of humans to build the foundation for his argument. This is a similar view that the early Roman Republic was built on and also Medieval philosophers would speak about.
@USAO#wtcrom Through Wordsworth poem, there is a clear love for nature. He elaborates on this through his appreciation of the solitude of nature versus the calamity of the city.
@USAOWTC#wtcpbs I would say that Percy Shelley was dedicated to his beliefs and really wanted to make sure people heard his thoughts, even if it cost him so much. Being the time this was written, he had to have known the backlash that would follow sending this out.
@emnicfee I agree, it is a shame that this isn't more well known. This man had very important things to say that surely helped spread the idea of equality.
@USAOWTC#wtcdaut Vastey was clearly a pioneer of his time and it is easy to see through his writings why so many people were inspired by him. My favorite quote is on page 19 where he said that they were "reproducing institutional rather than individual inequalities."
