The idea that one race is superior than the other, according to Daut, stems from creating categories and hierarchies with other objects which eventually led to doing this to humans. However, this ironically lacked the humanity that they were attempting to find. #WTCDaut @USAOWTC

Vastey explained how Haitian revolution were the first to abolish slavery. The Haitian revolution later influenced how black people are seen across the globe. It’s inspiring to hear that Haitian revolution showed that skin color has nothing to do with social status. #wtcdaut

Isn't it really telling that I had never heard about the Haitian Revolution, or that slavery was abolished there long before America got the memo? I know I didn't pay a lot of attention in school, but I think I would've remembered if I was taught that. #WTCDaut @USAOWTC

Reading this poem was kinda like something my grandpa would say of how we are under gods care because we are all his kids. And I think this poem is trying to say that with the aspect of race god will still love them as well. #WTCDaut

The info about the Haitian revolution and Black Atlantic humanism and its relation to the enlightenment movement are important to acknowledge. For the era, this type of writing seems ahead of it's time and ultra influential to equality. #WTCDaut

The author mentioned how white abolitionists used their privilege to speak out. I think speaking out is something that should still be in practice today. People still face racism or acts of micro-aggression and it shouldn’t be tolerated. @USAOWTC #wtcdaut

@USAOWTC #WTCDaut Funny how we don’t learn about the progressive movements in Haiti as well as the Black Atlantic humanists in public schools. Seems like it’s pretty influential history to me.
