Emily Henry on things she’s been loving lately:
- “The Missed Connection” by Tia Williams.
- “The Compound” by Aisling Rawle.
- “PONIES” streaming on Peacock, starring Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson.
- Mush’s Dark Chocolate Overnight Oats.
these women have stage presence, costumes, visuals, choreo, personas, not to mention they’ve had to reinvent themselves multiple times so for you to lump them w the likes of bieber and being “lazy” is indeed misogynistic ew
I don't even believe that every artist should be on stage doing choreo or Broadway level theatrics. Artists like Ed Sheeran is on stage building the music just his voice and a loop pedal. It can be just about the artist and his band. But you still need to put up a show.
Justin Bieber’s non-spectacle IS the spectacle. If your idea of performance art is limited to the excess, the grandiose, and the ostentatious then you have a limited and frankly, thin understanding of it.
