@RapidResponse47@VP Interesting strategy interrupting the VP considering these local leaders are in Washington to ask for help from the federal government.
NLC leadership was begging the attendees not to create chaos for the VP but they just couldn’t help themselves.
@RickWarren That’s how I understood it as well. It comes down to which worldview people prioritize.
If someone views the world primarily through a political lens, they may feel attacked. But if they see it through a Christian worldview, they should recognize the theological point being made
One danger of politicians staying in power for too long is the setting in of an intimate relationship with the bureaucracy.
After a certain amount of time, you forget who it is you’re actually representing.
Tonight was a beautiful picture of this American representative democracy in action! 🇺🇸
Special thanks to all those who came out to speak and share their opinion with their elected representatives! 🎉
I also commend the mayor for allowing me the right to motion to place an item on a future agenda, and he was nice enough to entertain an appeal of his decision.
This is how the council should operate!
The power of the people resides with the council members.
I hope to see more of the same.
Why I voted “NO” to building more apartments in NRH after learning this developer paid the mayor hundreds of thousands of dollars before coming to council for approval on his multifamily project…
#NoNRHApartments#NoMoreApartments
Repeat after me:
“the city council may not deliberate or vote on any matter raised in citizen comments…EXCEPT for the purpose of determining whether such matter should be placed on a future city council agenda.”
City Council Rules of Procedure
Codified in Code of General Ordinances Chapter 2
Article II - City Council
Sec. 2-67. - Order of business. (E)(8)
By abusing his power and refusing to take up my motion on the Tarrant Appraisal District crisis, this mayor has made it clear he does not care about the issues important to the citizens of North Richland Hills, Texas.
How much longer must we fight an uphill battle against this mayor who refuses to see any problems except those in his own backyard?
Why is the inevitable accusation against anyone calling for tax cuts to accuse them of wanting to defund the police/fire/parks? 🤷♂️
How about we just do the hard work of examining ourselves and assessing our priorities!
An efficiency audit by a third party auditor will assess our departments and programs for ways to better steward taxpayer dollars.
This doesn’t mean that our staff isn’t doing an incredible job.
It just means that sometimes you need an outsider to take a look at your operations and ask questions that we weren’t asking.
Then, and only then, can we identify real ways to save money for the citizens of our city while providing the same high-quality essential services they require of us.
And I wouldn’t even be asking for this if we had not seen an incredible increase in government spending over the last 10 years, which was far beyond our growth and inflation rate as a city.
