#ncmtsschat A8 We use several progress monitoring tools (AimsWeb, Fountas and Pinnell, Core Knowledge, general curricular assessments) to gauge effectiveness, but I would like more information about how people are doing this effectively and efficiently.
@ncmtss @bhall_acs @MoatesCourtney#NCMTSSchat Thanks! I am following the two you suggested and just got an email from my new Regional Consultant, Rhonda Harrell, so I am excited to learn more.
#ncmtsschat A6: We only have two classrooms per grade level in most of k-8. This makes it hard to make groups, because the classrooms don't always have the same schedule. Anyone doing intervention grouping across grade levels?
#ncmtsschat A6 It seems like the main thing to consider is how to fit it into the schedule and get the buy-in of the teachers involved. It also can't collide with or subtract from Core instruction. Question, is this question about intervention groups or core?
@NCMTSSAngel#NCMTSSchat I was thinking about giving teachers time to write an "exit ticket", a goal that they hope to enact that week in their classroom, to try out something they learned and if they complete the goal, then put it on a slip of paper in the office for a silly raffle prize.
#ncmtsschat Q4 Core Instruction at our school seems pretty strong, and I feel like I would like to create a quick and interactive PD at the beginning of the school year to skim over some of the best practices, since I am behind in joining Cohort 5, I haven't addressed core yet.
#ncmtsschat We communicate data the opposite way, from teachers and grade levels on to the MTSS teams and then problem solve together. We do AimsWeb measures and other progress monitoring from Core Knowledge skills series. Example: https://t.co/Y6AuES5Yz2
@ncmtss @bhall_acs #ncmtsschat I would love more information on this, because we are a K-12 school and will need division teams to make the matrices more effective and relevant to each group of students.
#ncmtsschat A3 It would be awesome for us to pool sample matrices in some sort of drive so that we could save each other work and collaborate. Is there any effort statewide to do something like that?
#ncmtsschat A3: Reading will probably be the first matrix we start on. The path to reading is a bit more formulaic. Math next. Behavior tracking and decision making in the matrix may be taken care of next. Attendance last.
#ncmtsschat A2 Scheduling can also be an issue for us in determining student groupings, using our resources for groups instead of individuals. Also, it is difficult to find a time for our whole elementary team to meet and discuss these issues because of the schedule.
#NCMTSSchat A2 We have been determining interventions on an individual basis, and the matrix hasn't been built at our school yet for STP, but shifting to using research based practices ONLY might be a shift for some teachers who are already using other methods.

A1: I haven't started in my MTSS position at my school yet. But @lisahervey said that she created Google Forms to record data and loaded the forms onto teacher's phone's homescreens so they could record with timestamps throughout the day. That is more data collection
