In Eswatini, 80% of people consult a traditional healer before visiting a formal western clinic.
Instead of viewing this as a barrier to public health, the country is turning it into a powerful opportunity, training healers as first responders to bridge the gap between traditional medicine and routine immunisation.

Elvis Presley's final concert took place on June 26, 1977, at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana.
It was part of his 1977 summer tour, and no one imagined it would be his final farewell to the stage. Some 18,000 fans packed the venue to see the King, who performed in his famous white and gold “Mexican Sundial” jumpsuit.
The show lasted about an hour and a half. Despite his visible weight gain and health issues (he was battling pain and fatigue), Elvis delivered an energetic and emotional performance. The audience gave him a standing ovation, and the atmosphere was one of pure emotion.
Before the concert, he was presented with a plaque for having sold two billion records on RCA. Just seven weeks later, on August 16, 1977, Elvis was found dead at his Graceland mansion at the age of 42.
That night in Indianapolis stood as the King of Rock and Roll’s final farewell to his fans. He never took the stage again. That concert is preserved in recordings and is remembered as the bittersweet conclusion to a legendary career.

Human rights are for everyone, everywhere.
No one should be treated unfairly because of who they are or whom they love.
June’s #PrideMonth is an opportunity to stand up for the equal rights & fair treatment of LGBTIQ+ people everywhere.

Inequality and pandemics feed each other. When inequalities prevent communities from accessing basic protections like decent housing, health care, fair employment, medicines and vaccines, the result is that diseases spread faster and kill more people.
And when pandemics hit, inequalities are, entrenched even further, leaving societies even more vulnerable to the next health crisis.
These inequalities are not accidental. They are structural. They are built into labor markets, legal systems, and crucially, they are embedded in the global financial outcome architecture that leaves many developing countries suffocated by debt, unable to access finance.
Viruses, like HIV and Ebola, exploit these structural weaknesses and unless we address them, pandemics will continue to outrun us and the human cost will be immense. But there is hope.
Through the Global Council on Inequality, AIDS & Pandemics, we’ve shown that breaking this inequality-pandemic cycle is essential to health security.
We know what to do. What we need now is the political courage to do it. We must press leaders to act on debt and finance, on inequality and on health justice, because in a deeply unequal world, no one will be safe from the next pandemic.

Today we have pandemics on top of pandemics — AIDS has been followed by Ebola, Mpox, COVID-19, continuing health crises like TB, and more.
Inequalities are undermining effective pandemic response, which in turn prolongs pandemics.
Meanwhile, the cost in lives and to our economies grows.
Please join me for this timely event, as we look to reimagine pandemic prevention, preparedness and resilience.

"Hurt" is not an original by Johnny Cash. The song was written by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) in 1994 for the album The Downward Spiral. Rick Rubin had to insist several times on Cash recording his version, at first Johnny found the idea completely insane because the original version is industrial and noisy. At 71, already very ill, almost blind and with trembling hands, Cash completely transformed the band.
The iconic video, directed by Mark Romanek, was filmed at the House of Cash (his own museum). June Carter Cash appears looking at him fondly, the video was shot in February 2003, a few months before she died (May) and Johnny himself (September).
Trent Reznor was so moved that he declared, "This song is not mine anymore." It is considered one of the best covers of all time.
The #HLM2026AIDS comes at a decisive political moment.
Progress is uneven and increasingly under threat, and the world cannot afford to lose momentum now.
On 22–23 June, leaders will gather to renew commitments and accelerate action to end AIDS by 2030.
