Martin Short with his parents in 1963.
Martin Short was born in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1950, the youngest of five children. His father, Charles Patrick Short, worked as an executive at Canadian Steel Company, while his mother, Olive Hayter, was a concertmaster and encouraged creativity.
Short’s parents shaped his love for performance and humor from an early age. After losing both parents before adulthood, he pursued entertainment, eventually becoming a star on SCTV, Saturday Night Live, and numerous films.

"Unbelievable. It hasn't sunk in yet. It's an honor. It's really an honor. It feels great."
