Those who underestimate the scope and quality of the Chinese auto industry do so at there peril. They are building a superior product at a better price. You can remain in denial for the next 5 or 6 years but by then it will be apparent that countries not admitting these products will be causing their citizens to pay too much for a vehicle.
@YoungStreete Imagine being so obnoxious that you live in a democracy but cannot imagine the voting intentions of the largest group of voters in the country.
Imagine being so closed minded that you can only process the desires of one segment of the voting population.
@atrupar The country that claims to be the epitome of law and order apparently, in the view of its president, needs a fund to protect itself from its own laws. How does that make sense?
Shithole nation.
@Christi57379096@Reil76 So what happens next? China makes the rules and you live by them.
Make some f'g sense. Why post such bullshit and confirm your total stupidity?
It is trump who did the poking. Trump has established an unprecedented level of tariffs against Canada. If your reaction to a betrayal is to simply say "Yes sir, what's next?" then you have no business leading this great country. You have to stand up for what you believe in. Abusers abuse, bullies bully. The only thing they understand is an entity that stands up to be counted, especially in difficult times and circumstances.
@ds_spiers@sarobertson_ Wake up. Some of the world’s countries thought they had a deal only to find Trump had changed it and continues to act without concern for so called trading partners.
Why wait when alternatives provide you with a strategic advantage. There is no reason to back away from the US. We can maintain trade with the US as before and still increase non US exports. The problem is that the US has betrayed Canada and contrary to agreements has applied huge tariffs to steel, aluminum, lumber and autos.
Why would you sit back and simply accept that behaviour without having the guts to react in your own best interests? Subservience to a bully is a no win strategy.
@ToughCallPod@ds_spiers@sarobertson_ And of course you have to wonder how much a deal with Trump is really worth. If he later doesn't like the deal he'll simply refuse to abide by it like he is with current deals. He just a full time bullshitter and lacking of any backbone.
We developed alternatives. Non-US exports are at a record high and increasing. Of course the US will always be a large trading partner, but anything that decreases our dependence is a positive from a negotiating position. Being strategic may annoy the entity you are negotiating with, but that is the good news, not the bad. Subservience to Trump and the Americans is a terrible strategy. Bullies bully the weak, but respect the strong.
Can you imagine a serious and confident leader using frequent X posts to set policy and negotiate deals? Trump is an insecure little wimp who needs to constantly strive for attention.
Carney, on the other hand, is a smart, even handed leader who can't take Trump's behaviour seriously, because it is anything but.
Trump is a bullshitter extraordinaire!!!
@Sinkycano@cherylcanadianw@joeroganhq Check out the definition of history. History right now is an oxymoron, with emphasis on the moron. If you are still confused look up the definition of moron or alternatively look in the mirror.
Smarten up and try to learn a little about the subject before making stupid posts. The US markets represent about 65% of world equity markets. Canada about 6%. Geographic diversity is a proven strategy. A balanced portfolio would be represented in each geographic area in about the same portion as the market equity. CPP at 47% US and 12% Canadian would be underweight US and overweight Canada.
Try to learn at least a little about the subject before confirming your stupidity.
Because Canada's failure is your dream does not make it remotely true. Carney has record support and pro-Canada Albertans are increasing and well over 65%.
Trudeau has nothing to do with our future. Stop clinging to the past.
Your manufacturing of alternative non-facts serves only to display the lying culture of people like you. Why not stfu and not confirm your dishonest stupidity?
@mccutcheon9127@sarobertson_ The more you look in the rear view mirror the less prepared you are to deal with the future.
Developing a vision can be uncomfortable but is necessary under the present circumstances.
And don't forget, we are quite capable of doing two things at once!
@rbernier22@ClintonDesveaux When you listen to the POV of Americans is there any wonder why Canada sees an immediate need to diversify its trade away from that country?
Why stay and accept future abuse? Abusers, abuse it's in their DNA.
@Maverich440378@Reil76 You're not a messenger, you're a simpleton with a message of bullsh!t.
Did you not see trump in china kissing Xi's ass and trying to dramatically increase trade? Like Putin, Xi made a fool of trump and the american delegation.
Only two countries in the world border the US. Many of those who don't, sell their products and services to the world at large. Many have larger more powerful economies than Canada and Mexico.
Our problem is not with selling to the world. It is accepting that the US has changed the rules and understanding that a synergistic change is the only way forward. Trade with the US will continue to be very important but we can't continue down the current road and expect to be respected and treated like a partner.
