No one is voting or thinking about Canada in the US midterms. I don’t think you understand US politics at all. The normal populace doesn’t even realize there’s a “trade war” with Canada.
The midterms are gonna be about the war in Iran, the war in Ukraine, handling of immigration, etc…
Sorry, but Canada is only 1% of US trade and despite what Canadians feel they just really are that important.
@SylviaUbell@brianlilley@MichaelChongMP@melaniejoly Did anything ever happen?
Side note: This cunt is the worst if the worst her only skill is as a constant gaslighting spin doctor and she isn’t very good.
@grok did they ever do anything ?
@Lizzbird329@elevatereport no one’s thinking of the “war” with Canada when they go to vote in US midterms. Or thinking of Canada at all. This is fucking hilarious how much self importance Canadians assign.
that’s also hilarious to think that the midterms are at all about Canada. There’s just no fucking way that anyone in the US besides maybe some border cities are thinking about the trade with Canada, especially as they put it going to war with Canada. I’m sure a lot of voters will be thinking about the war with Iran, but with Canada it’s just basic trade policy. This is what people mean by Canadians being self-important. No one thinking about this.
Also find the find the shift another trying to set the SecurCity Canadian win. It’s Mark Carney. Let’s try to initiate the trade talks again because the numbers are so bad for Canada.
Yeah, or when they used American GPS satellites from 1995 to 2020 when the European Option was finally operational. These mother fuckers complain and complain about Elon fast tracking Starlink to Ukraine to provide them with critical civilian satellite internet services.
It was never supposed to be used on weapons as that makes it a legitimate target for Russia. There’s millions of other starlink users around the world some of whole rely on Starlink for critical services and humanitarian aid. But sure Starlink should take all the risk so Ukraine can out all the other global users at risk. Is the EU going to lay for the cost if Russia decides to use their anti satellite weapons against starlink ?
They use American GPS for 25 years and use Starlink for 5 years and how many other US services with zero fucking thanks. Only criticism. My guess is the next time someone has capabilities they don’t, they ain’t going to rush to help the EU or Canadians, because then they expect and act entitled to it and want to have ultimate control over it. If they don’t they throw little fits.
If you just look at the facts this is the case. It’s very simple. The liberal governments in Europe and in Canada were pissed of that after years of failed policy (and allowing China to dump products there for free import to the US). The US decided it needed to protect its own manufacturing and supply lines. They acted entitled to free trade with US markets. Then the other one was they were pissed about having to spend more on defense and that Trump was right with all the russian aggression. Trump had to act as the bad guy just to get them to meet Nato commitments. Because of this they used Trump as a scapegoat for all their failed policy that led to their stagnation. It’s a lot easier to blame the Americans for their failed states then blaming themselves.
In regards to the last part, China is the one that is mainly an export market meaning they make the majority of their money exporting into markets like Europe, US, etc…
This is where the jobs go when you buy their EVs for example. This is the types of jobs Europe should be trying to reshore as China is able to dump tons of excess for super cheap their own markets do not consume.
There’s gotta be more than US trade policy for the reason that’s occurring. The EU exodus has been happening slowly over the last 20-30 years. It’s doesn’t happen overnight, it’s just that your starting to be able to see the effects over the last ten years and it’s going to get worst and worst unless fixed. For example if you look at France’s fundamentals it becomes real obvious why the bonds are so high.
Nope this person is right. It’s mostly about the dumping and the US not being able to control those policy and protect American companies so has to put tariffs on countries that allow that dumping to protect industry in the US. It’s mostly about ensuring supply and jobs in America.
The problem is the politics. Most of the mainstream media in the US is just manufacturing BS for political reasons. What ever Trump does they try and make it seem outrageous and ridiculous and like it has no reason. Because Trump says a lot of ridiculous shit this approach is obviously believable to outsiders. Trump doesn’t actually create the Trade policy though. He has people for that. Trumps actually a little smarter than he seems in certain regards.
Long story short is the guy above is right for the actual reasons for the tariffs and the fact they won’t be going away as certain industry need protecting in order for the US to compete with China.
For example, how everyone is complaining about the lack of interceptor defense missles. This is due to the lack of manufacturing here that’s been decimated by this types of chinese practices. They have been trying the same to US steal, car, etc… supply lines. Anyways, this is why you are seeing this, but it’s presented to use as the US being and unreliable partner going to trade war with the world. The US people love the french we are allys, both are governments propagandize us for their own purpose. There’s also a lot of blame on the US trade policy right now as it’s an easy scape goat for bad policy over the last 20 years by European politicians. See when you blame the US you aren’t blaming them.
Again, this is not to say Trump doesn’t say insane stuff or what ever but in the trade policy it’s lrrttt reasonable from an economic perspective it’s just super hyped up through the politicians.
As an American most Americans no that American isn’t the “greatest” country in the world and it isn’t said in that way. It’s mostly said in a grateful type of way here. Like we are lucky for what we have, not that it’s the best.
If that makes sense. What gets annoying is all the hate and somewhat obsession with everyone else commenting on America and how much we are hated etc…
This leads people online to obviously fire back. Also what sort of hilarious is people are usually wrong, it’s much different then the quips you read about online. For example the healthcare thing. 95% of all Americans have healthcare and the majority paid for by their company. There’s also reasonable limits, and laws in place so it would be incredible rare that it would ever bankrupt anyone. But again this is common misinformation spread by the media. The list of things like that goes on and on.
Also a lot of Americans from growing up here appreciate things from other countries might now. We are big on individual freedom and opportunity here and fortunately have a lot of that. Anyways, gets annoying when everyone things they know your country and constantly talking about it like they have a clue. Most don’t.
This is what the liberal states/politicans in the US do as well. All they do is blame Trump even in local/state politics where Trump doesn’t really have much impact. Crazy to see this in Canada where literally a completely separate country. The obsession with the US and Trump specifically is insane. Such a bad look and it’s creating more problems as they try and deflect from this own problems to blame everything on - dare I say it again - Trump.
This is why Trump made the 51st comment, because the blame and obsession with trump is just like a US state.
I don’t understand what you people don’t get. It’s musks company and regulated by America. Part of the reason speed restrictions are on Starlink is so Russia can’t hack them the same way and use it on their drones against Ukraine which they were doing.
Also it Starlink can’t be used for weapons as it would then become a legit target. Russia has anti satellite capabilities. What happens if Russia takes out starlink ? Are the EU and Canada gonna pay for it because Ukraine sure as hell won’t. What about the people using starlink across the globe for humanitarian purposes ? Do you give a shit about their access ?
The goal post moving is getting pathetic. Either obey musks rules or just don’t fucking us if. Everyone acts so entitled.
It’s amazing to me Canadians both and moan about this Trade War, but still have no idea have tariffs actually work and who they impact. They impact the consumers of the product or service being tariffs. A US company will pay the tariff but that cost is going to be passed on to the Canadians who are paying for and using the service.
@kmiddlebrook58@RippleXrpie I know this is hard for you to understand, but tariffs impact the end user of a product or service if the end user is a Canadian, then that’s who’s gonna pay for tariff.
That’s not how it works. He is gonna charge a 20% tariff. That means the company who charges to take Canadian trash is going to pass that 20% fee on to Canadians who pay to take their trash their. Funny how you don’t understand that.
So yes Canadians are going tj pay 20% more to use those landfills or can find other trash/landfill services in Canada for cheaper.z
