@NickFreiling It depends what you get. Buying a random used car can certainly backfire, but buying a 15yo Camry, or Accord, or Crown Vic, or anything with a GM 3800, you are pretty much guaranteed to save money over time.

@captainpisslord I could deal with a carbed DD. A Quadrajet or a Carter/Edelbrock are pretty maintenance-free. I could even deal with no radio, but I need electronic ignition. Having to adjust gap, dwell, and timing every other oil change is a PITA! Especially when you do 20k+ miles per year.
