@Colby_raz@XarmenKarshov@stankyguvner@NATERERUN Yea people are frighteningly uninformed about what's happening here. US tech companies have repeatedly fought the government in court and have *won*. Tiktok operates *at the behest of* the Chinese government
@Matt_Dillahunty @DaWittyWombat @AnaKasparian For instance health awareness campaigns about, say, screening for uterine cancer should include wording that quickly grabs the largest number of people's interest. The average person should read "this is about me" very clearly
@Matt_Dillahunty @DaWittyWombat @AnaKasparian Whining about it is lame. There are, however, instances where "women, trans men, and non-binary people" is more culturally appropriate than "people who..." even if it's wordier.
@TheAshiestJoe @SteveHamlin@jbarro Chinese censors routinely filter out all kinds of words, phrases, and imagery from social media. It isn't 100% effective, but it happens. And no, corporations are not investing the tremendous amount of time and money it takes to do this at a meaningful scale
@Epsteins_Mom@mattyglesias Atheists prefer religions that don't proselytize. Strains of Jewish philosophy also encourage strong questioning of religious dogma
@johnwgunnison@jbarro I was listening to a Weeds recently where it's discussed that to a certain extent reviewers don't want to deal with pissed of fans online so there's some incentive to make reviews nicer
@LemonPepperYBC@TheStalwart The biggest takeaway I'm getting from everyone in this ecosystem is that there is 100% absolutely nothing to be learned from this situation. Make us whole so we can get right back to it
@benedictevans@dsquareddigest "No one knows banks can fail!" Yea that's why every bank in the country mentions "member FDIC" in all their advertising collateral without further explanation of what the program does
@benedictevans@dsquareddigest I just don't understand how people like you are trying to force-feed this nonsense that "no one knows what FDIC means!" Ask every other grandmother on the street with a good amount of savings
