We strongly condemn the Russian attack that hit Latviaâs Honorary Consulate in Sloviansk.
#Albania stands in full solidarity with #Latvia and Ukraine.
Sadly, Albanian diplomatic representations have also been targeted in similar attacks on more than one occasion.
We know firsthand that such attacks are not merely attacks on buildings. They are attacks on international law, the rules-based international order and the principles that unite the democratic world.
But they will not destroy Ukraineâs courage, nor the solidarity and determination of the international community to stand with #Ukraine.

Information is no longer merely the space where policies are debated. It has become a strategic terrain where trust is tested, democratic choices are shaped and influence is increasingly exercised. We cannot remain indifferent to this seismic transformation unfolding before our eyes.
Next Monday, on 27 July, #Tirana will bring together voices from both sides of the Atlantic and from different democratic frontlines, from the United States, France and Germany to Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, alongside experts from the EU and NATO, for the conference âCountering Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference: Albania and the Enlargement Context.â
The diversity of this gathering matters. Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) does not affect every country in the same way, but no democracy is immune and no country can confront it alone. The experience of those who have faced it directly, studied or just exposed it, must become part of a common European response.
Bringing the #Enlargement process into this conversation is both timely and essential. We see a direct correlation: the closer Albania moves towards EU accession, the more it becomes a target for those who do not share our choices, our values or our goals.
Candidate countries must therefore not be seen merely as beneficiaries of European support, but as contributors to a common effort. Our experience, vulnerabilities and lessons learned should help shape the European Democracy Shield and contribute to Europeâs broader democratic resilience agenda.
Because resilience cannot be outsourced. It is built through common efforts, by governments, independent media, civil society, academia, technology experts and citizens themselves.

đWashington D.C. -- On the margins of the Ministerial meeting, I met with Serbia's Foreign Minister, Marko ÄuriÄ.
We exchanged on current developments and future prospects.
I also reiterated #Albania's clear and firm position regarding the unacceptable and irresponsible statements made recently by a member of the Serbian Government, and stressed the need to unequivocally reject rhetoric that fuels tensions, undermines regional stability and cooperation, and runs counter to the spirit of good-neighborly relations and #European values.
This is what #diplomacy is about: engaging in open dialogue, looking each other in the eye, confronting reality, and addressing differences with responsibility.
đWashington D.C. -- Pleased to represent #Albania at the #Ministerial on the Resurgence of Political Terrorism, convened by Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, alongside representatives from more than 60 countries.
Key messages from my remarks:
âą Political extremism and use of violence to achieve political objectives constitute a direct attack on democracy itself. Albania's position is unequivocal: in a democracy, there is neither place nor justification for violence as a political tool.
âą Our own history reminds us what is at stake. Once a brutal communist dictatorship, living in a world without light and without hope, today an established democracy, a committed #NATO Ally, a candicate to soon join #European Union and a close partner to the United States, we in Albania know the price of freedom and the importance of defending hard-won democratic values.
âą We must strengthen #democratic resilience, counter foreign information manipulation and interference, confront state-sponsored threats, including malicious cyberattacks, and deepen international cooperation.
Having faced sustained cyber and hybrid attacks by #Iran, Albania has developed significant resilience and capabilities, an area where continued vigilance and investment are essential.
âą International cooperation is indispensable. In today's interconnected world, no country is immune. #Democracies speak the same language. They must therefore cooperate more closely, share information, exchange best practices, and mobilize all available tools to address the common challenges that threaten our security, our institutions, and our democratic way of life.
đBrussels -- Albania and Montenegro are now widely and unequivocally recognised as the #frontrunners of the EU accession process from the Western Balkans. Yesterdayâs âSuper Tuesdayâ and the progress achieved in our negotiations once again confirmed this reality.
But that is only part of the story.
On the very same day, the European Commission provided another important recognition, this time on the second and complementary key track of European path: the implementation of the EU Growth Plan for the #WesternBalkans.
Speaking before the European Parliament, Director-General for Enlargement, @GertJanEU highlighted #Albania as one of the regionâs top performers, with an expected implementation rate of around 80% as of June 2026, alongside #Montenegro.
This is not simply a statistic. It reflects the determination of our Government and institutions, the commitment of our public administration, and the sustained pace of reforms undertaken across the country.
More importantly, it confirms a broader reality: progress towards the European Union is only measured by delivery. By implementation. By results.
As Albania enters the most decisive phase of its accession process, we remain fully committed to maintaining this momentum, implementing the reforms agreed under the @GrowthPlan, and ensuring that the benefits of European accession path are increasingly felt by our citizens.
Our #European future, and the Albania we all want, is taking shape through concrete achievements, sustained effort, and hard work.

Albania condemns in the strongest possible terms the renewed attacks launched by #Iran against its Arab Gulf neighbours. Such actions, in blatant disregard of international law and the principles of the UN Charter, further escalate tensions, undermine regional stability, and pose a serious threat to international peace and security.
Iranâs continued resort to confrontation, coupled with its failure to engage constructively and in good faith with the United States in efforts to address outstanding concerns, including those related to its #nuclear programme, reflects a troubling disregard for dialogue, de-escalation, and the security of the wider region.
These developments are deeply concerning, but unfortunately not surprising.
For years, #Albania has been and continues to be to this day the target of sustained cyberattacks, influence operations, and other hybrid activities irrefutably attributed to Iran, a state sponsor and supporter of terrorist activities, aimed at disrupting our institutions and undermining our national security.
Albania stands firmly in solidarity with all countries affected by these attacks and reiterates its unwavering support for sovereignty, territorial integrity, international law, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

A promise made, a promise kept.
During my visit to #Dublin last June, I was reassured that #Ireland would make EU enlargement a top priority. From day one the Irish #Presidency of the Council of the EU has been delivering on that commitment.
This Tuesday, 14 July, will be a landmark day for EU enlargement, with four Intergovernmental Conferences taking place for Albania, Moldova, Montenegro and Ukraine.
#Albania will start the final phase of its accession negotiations by closing Chapters 25, 26 and 30, another significant milestone on its European accession path.
Thank you @Ireland2026EU and @ThomasByrneTD for turning political commitment into concrete progress.
Together, we can maintain the momentum on EU enlargement and bring #Europe closer to a united future.

đRome -- Pleased to participate in the meeting of the Group of Friends of the Western Balkans, hosted by Italyâs Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, @Antonio_Tajani, a timely opportunity to reaffirm our shared commitment to the #European future of the region.
We cannot emphasise this enough: at a moment when Europe faces profound geopolitical challenges, enlargement remains one of the European Unionâs most successful strategic investments in peace, stability, security, and prosperity. Preserving momentum in the accession process is therefore not only vital for #Albania and the Western Balkans; it is equally important for the future strength, resilience, and geopolitical credibility of Europe itself.
I underlined in particular the importance of preserving the #credibility of the enlargement process, which must remain firmly merit-based, on both sides: candidate countries must deliver reforms and fulfil their commitments, while the European Union must recognise and reward progress.
Our objective remains clear. We will stay the course with the same determination, commitment, and sense of purpose that have guided us thus far. #Albania will continue to do whatever is necessary to conclude accession negotiations by 2027 and achieve its strategic goal of becoming a member of the European family within this decade. This is not only a national ambition; it is a commitment rooted in our reforms, supported by our citizens, and driven by our conviction that Albaniaâs future lies firmly within the EU.
The current window of opportunity is historic. We have a collective responsibility to seize it and complete the European reunification project, building a Europe that is stronger, safer, more resilient, and more united in facing the challenges of the future.

Hosting the Alliance's leaders is both a great honour and a profound responsibility, one that Albania is ready to assume with pride and determination. Above all, it is a clear recognition of our country's unwavering commitment to our shared values, Euro-Atlantic security, and collective defence.

An excellent opportunity to discuss the strategic importance of EU enlargement, the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, and how reforms and investments are accelerating our path towards EU membership. đȘđșđŠđ±
Key messages from my remarks:
âą Enlargement is no longer a distant aspiration. It has become a strategic imperative for Europe's security, stability and competitiveness.
âą The future of the Western Balkans and the future of Europe are inseparable. Geography, shared interests and common values make enlargement a necessity.
âą For Albania, EU membership is our national project, the compass guiding our reforms, institutions and foreign policy.
âą The EU Growth Plan proves that where there is political will, Europe can innovate, adapt and deliver.
âą The Reform and Growth Facility rewards results, not promises, strengthening governance, accountability and institutional capacity.
âą Albania has already unlocked âŹ212.8 million, the highest amount in the Western Balkans, through successful implementation of reforms.
âą Greater predictability, clarity and alignment between Growth Plan reforms and the EU accession process will contribute to increase the pace and quality of implementation.
âą Through the Western Balkans Investment Framework, reforms and investments reinforce each other, accelerating convergence with the European Union.

Pas afër katër muajsh në detyrë, kohë gjatë të cilës kam takuar dhe biseduar me të gjithë homologët e mi në vendet anëtare të Bashkimit Evropian, në rajon dhe në mbarë hapësirën evropiane; pasi kam zhvilluar qindra takime me zyrtarë, diplomatë, gazetarë, ekspertë dhe studiues që ndjekin e analizojnë zhvillimet gjeopolitike; dhe pasi kam marrë pjesë në dhjetëra ministeriale, konferenca, forume, takime e aktivitete ndërkombëtare, një përfundim del qartë:

Sot, emri #Shqipëri lidhet gjithnjë e më shumë me lirinë, suksesin, zhvillimin, turizmin, mikpritjen, energjinë pozitive dhe një shoqëri dinamike në transformim të pandalshëm, pasqyrimi i një realiteti tërësisht të transformuar: i një Shqipërie më të hapur, më konkurruese dhe më të pranishme se kurrë më parë në hartën politike, ekonomike dhe turistike të Evropës.
đ Dhe, mbi tĂ« gjitha, ShqipĂ«ria Ă«shtĂ« nĂ« prag tĂ« realizimit tĂ« Ă«ndrrĂ«s qĂ« bashkon shqiptarĂ«t kudo ku jetojnĂ«, nĂ« çdo cep tĂ« vendit dhe nĂ« çdo anĂ« tĂ« globit: anĂ«tarĂ«simit nĂ« Bashkimin Evropian dhe rikthimit tĂ« plotĂ« nĂ« pĂ«rkatĂ«sinĂ« tonĂ« historike, politike dhe qytetĂ«ruese evropiane.
Ky nuk është thjesht një moment historik.

Por një mundësi e tillë nuk realizohet vetvetiu.
Ajo kërkon edhe më shumë përkushtim, edhe më shumë përgjegjësi, edhe më shumë punë, energji dhe vendosmëri.
Mbi të gjitha, kërkon kontributin e secilit prej nesh, përtej dallimeve politike, bindjeve apo vendit ku jetojmë.
Sepse anëtarësimi në Bashkimin Evropian është projekti ynë kombëtar.
Dhe pikërisht si i tillë, ai kërkon bashkimin e energjive tona më të mira, në mënyrë që këtë moment historik ta shndërrojmë në arritjen më të madhe të Shqipërisë demokratike dhe në një trashëgimi të qëndrueshme për brezat që do të vijnë.
Vetëm një dekikë mjafton për të hedhur vështrimin pas dhe për të kuptuar se ku ishim dhe ku gjendemi sot;
nga kemi ardhur dhe ku po shkojmë;
çfarë trashëguam dhe çfarë duam të ndërtojmë.
