Among other forms of Violence Against Women and Girls. It was more than a training. It was an investment in local leadership, resilience, and lasting social change
Five years on, I reflect with pride on the moment we capacitated Community Gender Ambassadors in Karoi. By strengthening their skills, improving their mobility, and supporting service delivery, we laid a foundation for community driven action to end child marriages.
@MUSASAZIM Cyberstalking is as dangerous as physical stalking but we take it lightly . Whether you are tracking down your partner, ex, or whoever on a digital platform without their consent, it's digital violence.
1. As part of commemorating the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV, I had the privilege of facilitating a community dialogue and film screening on the 27th of November in Banket, Mashonaland West. Courtesy of ICAPA Trust and the Embassy of Canada in Zimbabwe.
2. The event focused on sustaining solidarity for gender equality.
My sincere appreciation goes to ICAPA Trust, the Ministry of Womenโs Affairs (MWACMED), Zvimba District Community Gender Ambassadors, local leadership, and everyone whose support made this initiative a success.
A very special thank you to the community of BANKET and @CanEmbZimbabwe for the 16 days film screening dialogue on ending violence against women and girls. Provoking discussions were had by both men and women on causes of GBV&VAWG ad well as how to end it
@blessChiwara91
These two things (GBV and drug & substance abuse) are inseparable. Let's join hands to make our communities safe for everyone regardless of gender.dy
Day 4.
We had a successful anti drug and substance abuse awareness campaign in Karoi, hosted by the ZRP.
As we commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, it's important to address drug and substance abuse as one major cause of GBV.
I participated in a 3.4km march (from Karoi town to Chikangwe stadium) with other Hurungwe District stakeholders, including pupils from surrunding school.
Marching in solidarity with fellow stakeholders to confront drug and substance abuse, as well as gender based violence.
Do you know that digital violence can harm women as much as physical violence? Yes the cyber bullying, online harassment & vicious trolling is digital violence? There has been a spike in appalling behaviours targeted at girls & women online lately & that is abuse. Stop it!!
@BTonhodzayi Sure. Let's stand tall for a noble cause. Promoting gender equality is everyone's responsibility. The costs of GBV know no gender it affects us all as a community/country.
Thank you for initiating the insightful conversation. We really need more of these.
@BTonhodzayi It's very true that the laws are there to protect women but there is resistance embedded in our culture. We have to work on that through educational campaigns. Information is power.
Women between the ages of 15 and 44 face a higher risk of rape and domestic violence than cancer, car accidents or even malaria.
This is not just a statistic, itโs a crisis unfolding in our homes and communities every day.
