After reading Hattie's new book & talking with him last night I'm reinforced in my belief that great teaching uses a balance of methods like direct instruction, inquiry, PBL, & more based on cognitive complexity & prior academic achievement of each student.

It’s possible to turn around a school in a relatively short amount of time. I’ve seen this recipe work, in more or less this order:

2. Concentrate admin efforts on behavior
3. Standardize routines and procedures
4. Build a culture of academics
5. Teach bell to bell
Here are some other things I’d want a new-to-research teacher to check out. (I’ll keep this to short, free stuff that is super accessible, so no books.) I already shared 1, so we’ll start from there…🧵
