Dear Ms Segal,
Would the story below be OK for the ABC & SBS to report, where Bezalel Smotrich is promising to leave enough of Lebanon for not only his son to destroy, but everyone else too? Is that what you would call a 'good news' story for Israel?
Ping @AlboMP
I am gravely concerned by reports of a severe deterioration in the condition of Dr. Abu Safiyah.
We reiterate our demands for his release, along with all other doctors being held without charge.
Above all, the World Cup must have exactly the same rules, treatment for all teams.
Otherwise, it is not a ‘level playing field.’ Which is the inviolable premise of competition in football.
Equal opportunity to compete, to excel.
That has not been the case.
And it’s shameful.
Very little attention in UK media thus far to this story - low prominence, few details of injuries, who the victims are, where they were when the attacks took place, community reaction https://t.co/Lm2Bg1XSZv
🚨Breaking: The Israeli High Court has rejected an appeal to release Gaza pediatrician Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, allowing Israel to continue detaining him without charge under the “Unlawful Combatants Law,” the Palestinian Center for Prisoners Advocacy said. The group says he remains in solitary confinement at Nafha Prison, denied medical care and basic rights.
🔴 An estimated 100 to 200 Stanford students walked out of Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s commencement address Sunday, chanting “Free, free Palestine,” as boos and cries of “shame on you” were directed at Pichai from parts of the crowd. The protest targeted Google’s Project Nimbus cloud contract with the Israeli government, which includes services for the Defense Ministry and other state agencies as the country commits genocide in Gaza and ethnically cleanses Lebanon.
⭕️ The World Cup Is Here. Not Everyone Is Welcome
As the FIFA World Cup gets underway on U.S. soil, a pattern of visa denials and border incidents is casting a dark shadow on the tournament.
◽️ Iraq: Striker Aymen Hussein was held for nearly seven hours at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport upon arrival for a pre-tournament friendly. The team’s photographer was denied entry outright over what U.S. Customs and Border Protection described as “vetting concerns,” with no further details provided. Iraq is making its first World Cup appearance in 40 years. (Chicago Sun Times)
◽️ Morocco: At least 90 fans from two major supporters’ groups were denied U.S. visas ahead of the tournament, most under a clause citing doubts about their intention to return home — despite documented travel histories to Russia 2018, Qatar 2022, and the Paris Olympics. Some lost tens of thousands of dirhams in non-refundable bookings. (Canary)
◽️ Somalia: FIFA-appointed referee Omar Artan was denied entry to the U.S. and immediately sent back, according to journalist Romain Molina. Even a diplomatic passport secured through the Somali embassy in Nairobi was not enough to gain entry.
Pocock presses Wong who says we all ‘prefer' an independent inquiry into abuse of Aussies off a flotilla but will instead push for a ‘swift’ & ‘transparent’-internal Israel led investigation🙄
Pocock ‘if we prefer an independent one, why has the govt not asked Israel?’🔥#auspol
Pro-Palestine prisoner Umer Khalid, a 22-year-old with muscular dystrophy, has been dragging himself across his prison cell floor because he has been denied a wheelchair.
He hasn't had access to a shower for over 20 weeks.
He has been waiting for a neurology appointment for over 12 weeks while experiencing chest pain and breathlessness.
This is happening in a British prison right now.
I've written to David Lammy to demand answers:
It isn’t just Palestinians – Western media is also ignoring shocking accounts of abuse from white Western activists detained by Israeli forces after an illegal raid on the Global Sumud Flotilla.
We compiled 11 of the most disturbing testimonies.
🇩🇪 German journalist Anna Liedtke was abducted by Israeli forces after the Gaza-bound Conscience flotilla was seized in international waters. After being transferred to Givon Prison on October 10, 2025, Liedtke says female guards raped her during a strip search while male guards watched and laughed.
She also describes repeated strip searches, shackling, physical abuse, and humiliation during five days in Israeli detention.
Liedtke and Drop Site contributor Noa Avishag Schnall recount their detention, assault, and release in a detailed first-person account published by Drop Site News, linked in the reply below.
🎥 Liedtke also spoke with journalist James Jackson about her experience. Watch that clip below.
Banning Cenk Uyghur and Hasan Piker from entering the UK is an absurd and cowardly decision from an increasingly authoritarian government.
Let us call this what it is: an attack on the freedom to criticise Israel, as well as the UK government’s own complicity in genocide.
TESTIMONIES FROM AUSTRALIAN FLOTILLA ACTIVISTS HELD IN ISRAELI JAIL
“That was just the beginning of four days of absolute hell.”
Heartbreaking oral testimonies from Australian survivors of the 2026 Global Sumud Flotilla describe the specific conditions humanitarians were subjected to by Isr*eli occupation forces who were responsible for kidnapping non-Palestinian medical officials and humanitarians from 10 different boats tied to a fleet hoping to break the illegal military siege imposed by former Isr*eli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
🎥 Juliet Lamont, an Australian documentary filmmaker and Gaza flotilla activist, speaks to Double Down News about being raped by Israeli soldiers after the aid vessel she was aboard was intercepted earlier this month.
Lamont says soldiers pulled down her trousers and underwear and that an Israeli soldier forcibly penetrated her vagina while she was in detention. She was among more than 450 activists seized when Israeli forces intercepted the Global Sumud flotilla in international waters. Organizers say at least 15 detainees reported sexual assault or rape while in Israeli custody.

🚨 UK bans Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur
Prominent political streamer Hasan Piker and Young Turks founder Cenk Uygur have both been barred from the United Kingdom, where they were set to attend the South by Southwest festival in London from June 1-6.
Both said the bans are direct retaliation for their criticism of Israel.
“The UK has revoked my visa at the behest of Israel,” Piker wrote. “The west is betraying ‘liberal values’ for a genocidal fascist foreign government. Soon we will all become Israel,” he added on X.
Uygur, who was denied boarding for a flight to attend SXSW London and deliver a speech at Oxford University, wrote: “This is oppression of Western citizens by our own governments on behalf of a different country. Are we free anymore?”
Labour MP David Taylor pushed the Home Office to revoke Piker’s visa on the grounds his presence would not be “conducive to the public good” — the MP had previously labeled UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese antisemitic for investigating Israeli war crimes in Gaza.
Uygur and his nephew, Piker, have been outspoken critics of Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza and the systematic rape, torture, and abuse of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
