This is not about politics, nationalism, or attacking Chinese developers. Many Chinese studios have earned the respect of players around the world through their creativity and passion. They deserve to be recognized for that.

Our criticism is directed at PaperGames’ decisions, not at China or its people.

A live-service game is built on trust. Players invest not only money, but also time, emotions, and confidence in the promises a company makes. When major creative decisions are reversed or become unclear, that trust is damaged.

Constructive criticism should always be welcomed. Harassment, misinformation, hate speech, and attempts to divide communities should never be.

However, constructive criticism also requires a constructive response.

Many players have lost confidence in PaperGames’ communication and decision-making. Reports of a significant decline in revenue during the boycott should be understood as a sign that this loss of trust has real consequences—not simply as anger, but as players choosing to withhold their support until meaningful action is taken.

The company should not respond with silence or uncertainty.

It should communicate transparently, explain its decisions clearly, and rebuild the trust it has lost.

Most importantly, we want Valko to return.

Restoring Valko would be a meaningful first step toward rebuilding confidence and demonstrating that player trust still matters.

Until PaperGames shows that it is willing to listen, communicate honestly, and take responsibility, many players will continue to support the August and September boycott peacefully and respectfully.

Our goal is not to divide communities.

Our goal is to encourage a stronger, more trustworthy future—for PaperGames, for its players, and for the reputation of Chinese games around the world.

Yeah. A gag order from their LAWYERS. Because it is INCREDIBLY ILL ADVISED to speak while pursuing litigation on the subject that is the center of litigation. (I know you know this though).

I do think we need to change the framing from "gag order" to legally advised silence or something. Because the first 30 days or so I do fully believe they were under a government gag order: They posted NO marketing at all whatsoever. (eg. Zayne's Heartfelt Gift)

Now they can market again, but they're not going to address Valko until they are legally safe to do so in terms of litigation.
