@WW2Airfields For my book I was looking at the personnel make up bomber stations around 1943 and I was researching an idea I had seen that some airfields had farmers living there, perhaps in remaining farm buildings, to assist with agriculture. Do you have any info on that?

@SilenceInPolish Foreign troops changed the UK and the UK changed the foreign troops. My dad was in the RAAF and did his bit in RAF bombers. In return for this he had so many great memories of his time in the UK.

@project4_4 Yes please, but they were called operations. An easily accessed source of tracks for each target would be great. I haven’t been able to find a source of data for *all* targets.

@decryption I’ve been hitting this a lot recently. Archives all over the world are financing their operations by charging obscene amounts for access to decent resolution images. Even if they’re out of copyright. It’s a great source of cash but it restricts access to public archives!

@danmadmorgan @unilincoln I’m writing a small book about my late Dad’s wartime experiences. He was a mid-upper gunner in Lancasters. The archive has been fantastic, especially the Australian aircrew interviews. I’ve used the IBCC archive so many times.

@StuRap Weird huh? I think it’s because Perth rain is short intense downpours that wash your garden down the street while Melbourne rain is a steady drizzle that makes you feel extremely wet without actually depositing any quantity of water on the ground.
