"It seems to me that an unwillingness to accept the outcome of an election perhaps blinds the unsuccessful participants from seeking and taking up the role of opposition for the development of society."

Nigerians also need to realise their roles in how to make this work, taking advantage of the reforms to build businesses, demanding for their rights, their role in holding state Govts to account, pushing for institutions that will sustain these benefits... we've got work to do!
By instituting some of the landmark reforms that htis administration has embarked upon, President BAT has set Nigeria free from some of the long standing encumberances that has held it back from rapid growth and development...
These are fundamental reforms that development and policy advocates have clamoured for for years. My fear as always is that many Nigerains are too concerned with daily meals to understand the ramifications of this and take advantage of it
I am thankful to see that Nigeria’s House of Representatives passed this important policy that I’ve been calling for since @POTUS first asked me to investigate the genocide against Christians in Nigeria.
In fact, I raised this idea directly with Nigeria’s First Lady during her visit to Washington and have done so repeatedly with every Nigerian delegation I’ve met with.
Ensuring states can protect their own citizens is a critical step toward ending the persecution of Christians and the overall instability in the Nigeria.
President Tinubu deserves credit for supporting this legislation and urging its passage through Nigeria’s parliament, and I hope to see him continue pushing on this issue.
There’s still a ways to go before state level police forces will be in place, but this is a sign that all our hard work is paying off.
Nigeria’s parliament passed a constitutional bill on Thursday paving the way for each of its 36 states to establish and run its own police force alongside the federal Nigeria Police Force, a long-debated reform aimed at tackling worsening insecurity. https://t.co/S74KapGNOG

Statement from Omar Artan is far more graceful and reserved than FIFA deserves. It is a stain on this tournament that one of Africa's top officials can be blocked from the biggest month of his career.
Somali referee Omar Artan, who was set to be the first from his country to officiate at the World Cup finals, has been denied entry to the United States.
"We are also planning to extend the rail line that ends at Ikeja bus stop. We are working with the Lagos State government to extend that rail line all the way to the GAT all the way to the international airport."

PRESS RELEASE
UPDATE ON FALSE REPORT OF ALLEGED KIDNAPPING OF STUDENTS AT ADUWAWA AND IKPOBA HILL, BENIN CITY
Further to the earlier press release issued by the Edo State Police Command regarding the false and misleading report of an alleged kidnapping of students at Green Park Academy Aduwawa and Western Boys’ College Ikpoba Hill, Benin City, the Command wishes to inform the general public that one Uzebor Emmanuel ‘f’, popularly known on social media as “Aza Woman,” has been arrested in connection with the viral publications.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect knowingly disseminated false claims in various social media posts alleging that about 6 persons had been kidnapped through various Mini transport Buses. According to her some purportedly escaped from their abductors, while others paid ransome. These publications generated widespread apprehension, heightened public anxiety, and could undermine public confidence in the security architecture of the State.
The Edo State Police Command reiterates that the deliberate spread of false information, particularly on matters relating to public safety and security, is a serious offence with far-reaching consequences. Such actions are capable of inciting panic, disrupting public order, and diverting security resources from genuine emergencies. The security of a state should never be jeopardized for views, engagement, online relevance, or any other form of social media gratification.
The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Command therefore advises members of the public to exercise restraint, verify information from credible sources before sharing, and refrain from using social media platforms to disseminate falsehoods capable of disturbing public peace and order.
