“Leadership is the ability to influence others. If you can’t influence the team, you can’t lead that team. They have to trust you. Earn their respect first by being early, be last to leave, put in the work. Take responsibility for your play and be accountable. Earn their respect,” Peyton Manning
“Before you really can be good at the game, you gotta love the game. Just let them get out there and enjoy the game because once they develop that love, then they want to learn and listen to the people that want to teach them. You gotta have a passion for something to be good at it,” Michael Jordan
Offer the enemy a bait to lure him; feign disorder and strike him. When he concentrates, prepare against him; where he is strong, avoid him. — Sun Tzu, The Art of War

"That's the gift in sports.
There is nothing better than being a great teammate.
You can't fool people in the locker room.
People really are going to know who you are if you show up early, put the time in...they are going to know who I am by the way I approach the next week."
“You have to prepare yourself that if you’re lucky and fate taps you on the shoulder and says it’s your turn, you better be ready. If you’re not, there’s no guarantee it will tap you again. You lost the moment. If fate taps you and you’re not ready it’s your fault,” Geno Auriemma

“We’ve got a real old school culture here of accountability. I’m an old school coach in terms of the tone I take with my players in practice, the expectations with effort. The focus on winning and we over me,” Dan Hurley
Standards, habits and accountability produce winners.
On the morning of April 19, 1775, British troops entered Lexington, Massachusetts where they were confronted by 77 members of the colonial militia. The 700 British soldiers were en route to Concord with orders to seize weapons, ammunition, and gunpowder. • After an initial skirmish at Lexington, the British moved to Concord where they were met with additional rebel forces and were forced to retreat under fire to Boston. • Today is a good day to remember those who stood up to the most powerful military on earth and pledged their “Lives, Fortunes, and sacred Honor” to the cause of freedom. • "Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here." - Attributed to Captain John Parker, a veteran of the French and Indian War and Captain of the Colonial Militia. • No one knows who fired the first shot of the American Revolution. The man who fired the “shot heard around the world” remains a mystery.
"I appreciate guys that lay it on the line.
Maybe you're outnumbered.
Maybe you're not the most talented.
Maybe the odds are against you and nobody believes in you.
I respect the hell out of those guys that will fight,” Dan Campbell
