I still believe in the vision we share for our country. We will elect politicians and enact legislation to protect the most vulnerable among us – but first, we have to address the urgent needs of families at the center of this crisis. Give today. Please. https://t.co/VEAP7b5qNo
@washingtonpost It’s sketchy that the government isn’t allowing independent news photographers in. We have no reason to trust what they’re showing us. So news outlets publishing the photos without context only helps push the government’s agenda - not help the immigrants
@washingtonpost Did no one read the article? I know the tweet here reads like it’s about showing pictures of the center being propaganda, but what they were actually saying is that the only pictures they have are put out by the government. So we have no way of knowing how bad it actually is...
X could’ve been like Malcom X later. He could’ve been anybody and anything. Just like literally every other human out here. The point is that destructive behavior, especially at such a young age, shouldn’t take you out the running for a bright future.
Especially when the point is to illustrate that someone who contributed a lot of good and who we hold in high esteem could easily have been snuffed out before they reached that point
If someone compares the fact that at 20 years old Malcolm X was just a violent criminal to X and his shortcomings at 20, why would you be upset by the comparison to Malcolm X?
I don’t think artists or anyone who gives something valuable to the world should have their contribution erased. The contribution shouldn’t have to suffer due to human shortcomings. The contribution is always going to be bigger than the contributor. That’s the only immortality
We start chasing the messenger instead of the message in many ways. By both expecting too much of the messenger and by trying to be the messenger without having a real message
I think the messenger becomes admirable when they’re in sync with the message. Not necessarily just in terms of content, but also within just “looking” like someone with a message
