⦿ On April 13, 2015, Zeeshan’s father, Zaheer Ahmed, a resident of Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared by Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) at a checkpoint in Hub Chowki during his travels.
At the time, his son Zeeshan was just eleven years old. His daughter, Zooya, was a newborn, only 40 days old. She grew up with no memory of her father.
For the past decade, Zeeshan carried the weight of both a brother and a father on his young shoulders, raising Zooya and supporting Adeeba in the absence of their disappeared father.
⦿ Now, Zoya is only ten. And the brother who raised her has been extra-judicially killed by a state-backed death squad in Balochistan. These death squads are formed, armed, and shielded by the Pakistani military establishment.
On the evening of June 29, 2025, around 8 P.M., Zeeshan was forcibly disappeared, just after finishing a football match. As he walked towards home, two vehicles (Surf) belonging to the state-backed death squad intercepted him. Witnesses saw him beaten, his hands bound, and then thrown into one of the vehicles.
That same night, in response to his abduction, family and residents of Panjgur blocked the CPEC road. A sit-in began, demanding Zeeshan’s immediate release.
By morning, the demand turned into mourning. Zeeshan’s bullet-riddled body was found dumped in Panjgur. His corpse bore clear signs of torture, bruises from sticks and blunt force, six bullets to the chest, and deep knife wounds.
⦿ Zeeshan was just 21 years old. He had recently completed his intermediate education and had applied to a university in Multan, hoping to continue his studies.
Zeeshan had grown up in the shadow of his father’s disappearance. Yet he transformed that pain into resistance, not only demanding justice for his own father, Zaheer Ahmed, but for hundreds of other forcibly disappeared Baloch.
He became a committed part of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and walked side by side with grieving families in the historic Long March against Baloch Genocide, from Panjgur to Islamabad, along with his mother and sister.
⦿ When the march was stopped in Surab, it was Zeeshan’s car that was first intercepted by a state-backed death squad. He was dragged out, beaten, and had his nose smashed with a rifle butt. Even then, hospitalized and in pain, he refused to step back. He rejoined the march, not just as a victim but as a pillar of strength for others.
Again, on July 28, in Baloch Raaji Muchi, Zeeshan was not just a protester. He helped manage a thirteen-day camp in Gwadar and then joined the march as it moved through Turbat, Panjgur, Gresha, Surab, Manguchar, Nushki, and Quetta, standing tall with the families of the disappeared, organizing logistics, and ensuring the movement carried forward with strength and discipline.
From a young boy shaped by personal loss to a human rights defender and Zonal Organizing Member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, Zeeshan’s journey was one of resistance. His killing is not an isolated act—it is part of Pakistan’s systematic, generational machinery of Baloch genocide and the deliberate erasure of Baloch identity and resistance.

Zeeshan was only 21 & keen to continue his education, but like his father Zaheer (abducted on Apr 13, 2015), he was forcibly detained on June 29 & dumped tortured & bullet-riddled on June 30. What can be more brutal than abducting his father & martyring him?

The state’s crackdown on peaceful Baloch protesters is a blatant violation of human rights. Arresting BYC leaders won’t silence the demand for justice. #ReleaseBYCLeaders#StopBalochGenocide
Mahrang is not just the good luck & fierce hope of Balochistan — she is its defiance, its voice, its unshakable will.
In a land long silenced, she rises as the storm that refuses to bow.
