Today marks 17 years since Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch, a doctor, was forcibly disappeared on 28 June 2009. For 17 years, his family has lived without answers, without justice, and without knowing whether he is alive or dead. This is not only one family’s tragedy. It reflects the suffering endured by countless families whose loved ones have vanished into the hands of the state.

@SammiBaluch has spent these years demanding justice with courage and dignity. She speaks for every mother, father, wife, husband, sister, brother, and child searching for a disappeared loved one. Yet, instead of answers, she faces surveillance, intimidation, and harassment simply for asking a question that every victim’s family deserves to ask. Where are our loved ones?

Justice cannot exist where enforced disappearances are met with silence and those seeking truth are subjected to intimidation.

طویل جدوجہد ایک خوبصورت لفظ ہے، اور تاریخ گواہ ہے کہ جن قوموں نے طویل جدوجہد کی، وہ آخرکار خوشحال ہوئیں اور بہتر مستقبل کی طرف بڑھیں۔
مگر اصول واضح ہے: جدوجہد طویل ہوسکتی ہے، غلامی نہیں۔ کبھی کبھی اردگرد کے حالات دیکھ کر یوں لگتا ہے کہ ہم بامعنی طویل جدوجہد کے بجائے محض طویل غلامی کے سال گزار رہے ہیں۔ میں انکار نہیں کرتی ان افراد کی جدوجہد سے جو برسوں سے مسلسل لڑ رہے ہیں، مگر میں انکار کرتی ہوں ان لوگوں کی بے حسی سے جن کے پاس تعلیم تو ہے مگر شعور نہیں، جو جانتے ہیں کہ وہ غلام ہیں، جانتے ہیں کہ لوگ غائب کیے جا رہے ہیں، مگر پھر بھی سوچنے اور عمل کرنے سے انکاری ہیں، اور اپنی بے حسی میں مطمئن ہیں۔
ایسے لوگ طویل جدوجہد کا حصہ نہیں ہوتے، وہ طویل غلامی کا حصہ بن جاتے ہیں۔ غلامی کے دور میں اگر گزرتا وقت فکر اور عمل کے لیے وقف نہ ہو تو وہ سال محض زنگ آلود ہونے کا مطلب رکھتا ہے۔ ایک طویل جدوجہد کے لیے ضروری ہے کہ ہم ہر گزرتے سال کے ساتھ مزید پختہ ہوں، اپنے مسائل کو بہتر طور پر سمجھیں، اور ان سے مقابلہ کرنے کے لیے خود کو ذہنی، فکری اور عملی طور پر تیار کریں

تیجبان کیچ میں دھرنے کا آج تیسرا دن ہے۔میرا خاندان شدید سردی میں سڑک پر بیٹھا ہے۔دن سرد ہیں اور راتیں دن سے بھی زیادہ سرد ہوتی ہیں لیکن اپنے بچوں کے بغیر اُن کے پاس کھونے کو کچھ نہیں۔ اسی لیے وہ اپنا پُرامن احتجاج جاری رکھے ہوئے ہیں۔ جب تک ریاست ہمارے مطالبات تسلیم کرے۔
